One of the only things I dont agree with you is that McDaniels is still a premier play caller. I will probably get a lot of flak for this but I have to be honest. Most of the time than not I don't like his calls. We constantly abandon the run game, especially in the red zone, we run too many play actions with all the pressure and not establishing the run game. I don't know maybe I am just frustrated after today's loss but his play calling has stumped me more times than not this season. Just my opinion.

LOL , how about you change that to Edelman is the NFL's all time punt returner!!!

Also they are 4-1 with no GRONK, none of those other guys are on the team, so who cares about them.

Other then that, I feel better after reading your post.

Thanks!

Every fan complains about play calling every year ever.

Just an observation and an opinion. Don't know what to tell you. Are you happy with the play calling?

I doubt the Saints do, except for last year, but the Jets on the other hand :D

They are still ripping Shotty in STL, and their new OC isn't any better according to JI posters.

I think people forget one thing. Just as Brady has lost his top offensive weapons from last year, so has Josh. Every dropped pass, every missed block, every wrong route, every fumble makes his job just that much harder too.

But in saying that I don't know why he didn't call more running plays. We ran it 18 times for a 4.6 avg. Bengals ran it 39 times for a 4.2 avg. On a third and 2 he calls for a pass play and Brady gets sacked. I still think he is one of the premier play callers in the league but last night was not one of his best.

Yeah I agree. I guess I can see it from that perspective. Sometimes I think it is just so frustrating to watch. But it's always a good thing to look at it from multiple perspectives. I just hope come Dec/Jan we are a little better in that area.

Yep, it makes both jobs harder.

I hope you are right, still hoping the young WRs can further develop their chemistry with Tom this year.

Redundant points.... are you going to say those are positives after every loss?

- We have quality depth and talent at the RB position
- Blount and Bolden are Getting quality reps
- Ridley and Vereen will be back
Blount and Bolden getting quality reps just means Ridley/Vereen are hurt... which is actually a bad thing, not a positive.

We won't re-sign Bolden next year and Blount is probably just on a temporary stay in New England, so it's not like we benefit in the long term from them getting extra snaps.

- Gronk will be back
- Gronks Presence alone will open things up
- Amendola will get healthier
- Thompkins and Dobson will learn and grow along with Boyce
- Offensive chemistry and timing will improve as everybody gets back on the field

What does that have to do with todays game?

- OLine still solid and will get healthier
They looked really bad today.

- Edelman is still healthy
He had a terrible game today as well.

Rookies dropping passes are given a bit of a pass since they're rookies. Edelman has been in the NFL long enough now he should have much more reliable hands. Especially since he's undersized and not a speedster. Guys like that make their living by having trustworthy hands.

If he continues with all those drops, he could be #4 on the WR depth chart by the time the season ends.

- Thompkins has great upside and potential
We already knew that.

- Lets see how Collie helps and can Contribute.
That's an Unknown, not a positive.

- Defense is playing lights out
Dangerously thin at DT. If Tommy Kelly is injured and misses time, it could get ugly.

- 4-1 and leading the division with no Gronk, Welker, Hernandez, Woodhead, Lloyd, and Branch

We were 4-0 last week... so 4-1 now isn't really a positive.

5 out of 6 of those players are no longer with the team, so I don't see how that's positive either.

Don't take it personally but you made a lot of stupid points.

18 rushing attempts, 38 passing attempts (not including sacks)

Which was weird. It seemed like after Blount had the ball knocked away McDaniels said to himself "Well that's it for the running game today"

Only 7 rushes after the strip on Blount. Which happened with 9 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. And one of those runs was the run by Blount from the 1 on 1st and Goal.

Which again it's like McDaniels panicked after Blount got stopped. You still have 2 more shots and maybe even 3 to run it in from the 1. But yet he calls a pass to the starting LT playing TE on 2nd and goal and then spreads them out on 3rd and goal. Which I guess the 3rd and goal call was a good one because if Edelman can hold on no-one is second guessing it.

You also forgot to mention this weeks biggest bright spot.

Aaron Dobson looks like he could be a star in this league.

He needs to fight for jump balls more. He needs to get stronger. But its easy to see he could be a good deep threat with more experience.

Instead of wasting reps on players like Sudfeld, and now Collie.... I think Brady and the coaching staff need to INVEST more reps with Dobson in practice. He's one player who could really pay off big time.

It's kind of sad that Dobson had to waste time diving for wobbly passes from Tim Tebow in preseason and training camp this year. They should've had him paired up exclusively with Brady from the start.

I guess we can thank Josh McDaniels for that one.

we still have the best coach and we still have the best QB ?

no disrespect but don't you say stuff like that if the team just droped 3 in a row giants fans can say stuff like that come on guys im no homer but 4-1 out of this team with all of the injuries and stuff they went through in the offseason is great

The only real problem I have with McDaniels is the whole run after an incomplete on 1st down to get to 3rd and manageable.

Positive - Ryan Allen continues to punt the ball well as a rookie

In simplest terms:

  • 4-1.
  • Defense and STs have been getting overall excellent results.
  • Brady.
  • Belichick.
  • Gronk due back.
  • Ridley, Vereen and a healthier Amendola due back as well.
I'd add that there are 4-6 guys on offense who should shock nobody if they make the Pro Bowl or All-Pro in any given year (in approximately declining order: Brady, Gronk, Mankins, Vollmer, Solder and Ridley) and a couple others with proven talent (Amendola, Vereen). Note that half the guys I mentioned have been gimpy or out.

This thread is as frustrating as today's game and Josh's play calling for today.

We won't re-sign Bolden next year

They won't, because they can't. He's a second-year UDFA, and by rule can't renegotiate his three-year contract.
