BB statement on Thomas

The Patriots officially announced the signings of linebacker Adalius Thomas, tight end Kyle Brady and running back Sammy Morris today.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick touched on Thomas in a statement:

"Personally and professionally, we are very impressed with Adalius Thomas,” he said. “His playmaking, toughness, intelligence, versatility and character were all factors in our decision to pursue him. Adalius has contributed in many ways to some excellent defensive units and we look forward to getting to work with him."

I'm still not convinced. I didn't see a "it is what it is" at the end of his statement.

Anyone else worried at how Adalius' contract has/will be affected by the fact that Clements just got himself the highest ever payday by a defensive player? I know Thomas is older, but he'll probably be in the same ballpark.

I agree, it's the best day of free agency they have ever seen, and they don't seem to be done yet. If you include franchising Samuel and re-signing Koppen and Evans to the mix it's gone better than anyone could have hoped for despite losing Graham.

This is a big day for Patriots fans. A.D. will take our defense to a new level. Now all we need is a little youth and depth (can you say draft?), and we should easily have one of the best defensive units in the league next year!
