not like Graham(Dan is top 2 )

but Brady is an above average blocker and hes bigger than Graham

he wont be as dominant blocker as Graham was he'll do very good

Yes the guy is a beast of a blocker tough to compare but he may be as good or better than graham but he is much older and at this point isnt close to the pass catcher that graham has potential to be. he has had better health though

He's a great blocker. Prob 6'6" 270. Can handle a lb and de. He's one of the reasons Jax has had a great running game. It hasn't exactly been the threat of the passing game. It's strictly blocking and some talented backs.

Great blocker, but not on Graham's level. Graham is the best in the league, and may be one of the best ever (if not THE best).

What makes you say this? BB has referred to K. Brady as "another tackle". Graham may be as well with his exceptional blocking, but who is to say they aren't on the same level?

Brady is an excellent blocker, Graham was good but missed some too - this best ever stuff is getting a little carried away.

I don't think we'll lose much blocking going from Graham to Brady but we'll be a little more predictable as Graham was more of the legit double threat while Brady is more of a pure blocker and Thomas more of a pure receiver (as a TE). Although Thomas showed some solid position blocking in his few opportunities.

Well, I think two things when I see this, (and I think you aren't the first to mention this idea of predictability). Deception starts with the defense coming to a conclusion on what you are doing. We can use the idea that "K. Brady is only in to block" as an advantage. But more importantly, and this might seem contradictory to my last point, but I don't see anything wrong with Brady being brought in mainly to block. I guess I think deception is overrated, and if he's a great blocker, and he can do that well, then whether the D knows he's in to block or not is irrelevant.

I basically agree with you - and as Thomas CAN block and Brady CAN catch, it's not all or nothing by any means. But still a touch more predictable.

First, because of Matt Light we needed to use Graham mostly as a blocker. Graham had and has durability problems. Of course I'd prefer keeping Graham but a guy who is durable, can block and yes CAN catch that surprise pass now and then is a very good addition filling a void in the talented TE corps. Good signing.

Someone on an earlier thread said it best.

Brady is 90% of Graham at 50% the price. And I think that, even at 35, he'll still be as durable as Graham ever was. KB is known for his durabiity (only missed 9 games in his career as yet).

Graham was injured an awful lot also. I wonder how Brady was with injuries

Before we conclude that Graham is a better blocker than brady but not much better, we should consider the shoulder injuries that held Dan out of some games the last 2 years.
Can DG be the same blocker he was before these injuries? If not, than maybe at this point KB is actually better.

I would go back and look at the games against the Chargers and Colts and then tell me if DG has lost anything in his blocking.

If Graham was such a great blocker, how come the Pats weren't able to run the ball in the second half of the season or the playoffs.

As for receiving potential, I think Graham had 21 catches last season. Hardly Tony Gonzales production.

We got five years of production with Graham. I wouldn't say that we are losing a superstar.

The Pats DID run the ball in the 2nd half of the season. You must have been snoozing. The reason they couldn't run it against the Colts was because, Dillon and Faulk went down in the 3rd quarter and Maroney's ribs were still hurting.

Hammering Graham because of his receiving production is just stupid. Graham wasn't out there receiving because he was helping the O-line (RT especially) block again. Then he got hurt and missed time.

No. We aren't losing a superstar, but we are losing a player whose potential we couldn't fully develop because of the issues on our O-line. Having a revovling door at OT since 2000 isn't a good thing. If you are wondering what I am talking about, the Pats have had to use 4 OTs every year since 2000. And that is specifically because of injury. Most teams don't have to do that. And, since 2003, the Pats have used Graham as an additional blocker to help the OT positions.

That may be a real good point when we all talk about graham being a good blocker we are usually talking about the help he has given in the passing game. I have heard that Kyle Brady was a huge asset as a run blocker in JAX so maybe he is the better run blocker of the two anyone else have an opinion on this.

Brady is reguarded as the best blocking TE in the nfl.
He blocked for Martin and Taylor 2 great RB
