I think it's outstanding and remarkable that the guy is holding out until he is 100% fully ready to go.

The reason i think this is because it takes a lot of great qualities for a guy who literally eat, sleeps and drinks football to hurt so much on the inside having to just watch the team he loves to play for, yet still be able to hold back from returning prematurely and instead choosing to be true to himself, his team mates and the pats organisation.

They will rely heavily on him come the time it really counts in early 2014 and while Tom is somewhat suffering out there without the best TE in the league (i say that as much i admire Jimmy Graham), why rush him when the team is playing pretty good and sitting at 4-0? Gronk will obviously be required to get us to the next level and that means securing #1 seed over Peyton Inc. and getting us another Lombardi but that time is NOT YET now.

It's obvious that if he was 100% the Pats would've stomped the last SB against the Giants but he was quite clearly unable to do what he can do that night and i for one don't want the same situation.

Could you imagine if he came back too soon and RE-INJURED either the arm or back he's had surgically repaired?! We may never see him again and even if we did he may be a shell of his former self.

I've got no doubt in my mind that when he's 100% ready to go he will sky rocket our TE stats from what it is now to the top.

So as much as i know that no one of significance in pats world will see this message: Please, please, please i urge anyone close to Gronk to not RUSH him until "HE" feels ready.

People are already equating his sitting out to that of NBA star Derrick Rose, which is silly and completely different circumstances.

The Patriots have made it clear that he won't be back until he's 100% healthy. Right now, they're 4-0, and at the top of division (2-0 within it), so they have no reason to rush him back especially if he isn't fully healthy yet. If the team was 1-3 heading into this game, then he'd probably suit up.

I wonder what the difference is from Week 5 to Week 6. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though. Also, I'm not entirely sure that this isn't his Agent and/or Father talking. I doubt it's the Team talking.

If you're going to pay a lot for an Agent (or a Lawyer) than you should take their advice.

I guessif he sits out the rest of the year you can chalk that up to maturity too?

he is ready to play this week..and if he plays next week we 100% know he could have played this week..whatever. Sick of it. Just get your ass back on the field

Just curious and I know its a long way off but does anyone think we can go far in the playoffs without Gronk?

We are winning but some if the wins have been scratchy at best and I don't know if the games themselves could be considered similar to the sort of titanic struggle we will face when the competition is sudden death.

Just get healthy Gronk.

As a former professional sportsman whose career was derailed by injuries, several misdiagnoses and mismanagement by several of Australia's supposed top specialists, I cannot fault Gronkowski for his approach. His body is his meal ticket. He is well within his right to protect himself until he is 100% ready to contribute.

I've seen and experienced first hand what happens when you're repeatedly brought back too early. I'll always err on the side of caution moving forward.

I would contend that a healthy Gronkowski in 2011 wins the Patriots the SB and in 2012 gets them to the SB.

That's what I thought but I'm a stooge. What I know about other sports is that the team that limps into finals usually limps out without the silver.

My personal belief is that, no matter what the medicos say, if the player doesn't feel ready he ain't ready.

Oh, just saw Oz backers post. Cool.

Well we don't really know what is happening with Gronkowski. If you believe the circus the media have created I have some land I would love to sell ya. All we know is he is not out there. He says he is getting better, no setbacks. My read is that Gronk is on a crash course to get the muscle back he lost after all the surgeries and periods of inactivity that followed them I have no doubt that if the doctors cleared him and the team wanted him to play he would play.
Players want to play. Almost without exception, players want to play before they are ready. If you watch Gronk's interviews you can see this. He is past the recovery time for the most recent surgery (back) but he had several months with no real weight training. If he plays now it would limit his weight training regimen back to an in-season schedule. That's a lot less than what players do in the off season and even training camp.
Lets say we play him before he has recovered his strength and he is only at 70-80 percent of full strength the rest of the season. What is that going to do to his impact? A lot. Some players don't rely on elite athleticism as much as others. Gronk's game is among the most physical of any player I have ever seen. Blocking, running, catching Gronk does them with about as much contact and power as anyone. If we get a healthy Gronk in the playoffs (yes this team is headed there 82 percent of 4-0 teams make playoffs - Arrowhead Pride) its all worth it.

I'm just truncating your post right there, because it says it all for me.

How do we possibly know whether Gronkowski is "showing great maturity"? Anybody who can tell us whether he is begging to play, or is calmly letting the medical staff dictate the pace of his rehab, or is letting his daddy talk him out of playing when he's healthy knows more than the rest of the fan and media world combined.

Personally, I have no opinion about when he should return. None. I just miss watching him play.

Are you the team doctor?

I'm taking an "ends not means" approach to this. As long as the Pats keep winning, I don't care if Gronk sits out despite being at 90, 100, or 110% health.

Good satirical post!

I might just make "he is ready to play this week..and if he plays next week we 100% know he could have played this week.." my new sig. That's high comedy. :D

Well said Aus, you are spot on.

Rather than give any credibility at all to any media person, I believe what ownership, coaches, Dr's and the player himself say.

They say they all are on the same page and he is feeling much better every day/ week.

Seems to me he is all healed up from the surgeries and is now getting the rest of his body back to football shape. Why rush things?? So, he can injure something new because he wasn't in top shape??

We're winning, all is fine, take all the time you need Gronk, the hope is, as I previously mentioned, to see you win a game this Feb.

The simple reality is, one day let alone one week does make a major difference regarding healing and recovery. It's one of the reasons I sympathize with the players regarding Thursday Night Football.

It doesn't sound like much but really, it is.

the longer he is away the more targets the new kids get.

The more targets the new kids get the better we will be in the playoffs.

You should take their advice about what they are experts in. I don't think anyone would think the best advice you can get about when you are healthy enough to play would come from a lawyer, or an agent. Thats like asking your doctor how to negotiate a contract.
