Does it mean the pats were not satisfied with the LB corps, and are going to do what it take to get back to the super bowl... Or is it a sign Belichick is only here for 1 or 2 more yrs and the attitude is win now, and worry about the bill later??? I think its more of a fact that hey our lb need improvement and coaching cant help guys cover the likes of a Dallas Clark and a Ben Utect, we need some help...

I had the same thought as you. Maybe BB wants to win one more big one

and then move along elsewhere.

knock it off.

they got AD b/c he's great and can play 5 positions and BB only makes him that much better.

It's a perfect fit for our D.
Maybe that's why we got him.

I second that, KNOCK IT OFF, stop trying to rain on the parade.

BB often talks about special players in the NFL that come along once in a blue moon, such as Jim Brown and Lawrence Taylor, and he seems to believe that AD is one of them, thus he opened the check book for him,

NO MORE NO LESS. Stop trying to read into things and enjoy the moment.

I'm with you, Keegs. No need to look for hidden meanings to a move that makes tons and tons of sense on its own.

Hey your going to have some people think it, but Im as excited about the Thomas signing as much as anyone..

Both. I really think BB sees himself another 2-3 years as HCNEP

What is it with you? You could win a million bucks and be unhappy you stepped in gum.

This isn't the first time BB has been active in FA before. Did signing Colvin + Harrison in FA before the '03 season mean he was planning on hanging it up anytime soon?

This move doesn't really signify the departure from Pats Standard Operating Procedure that folks are making it out to be. Thomas is exactly the type of versatile and instinctive defender who also happens to be blessed w/ great athletic talent that BB would jump on once he hits in FA... and making a big push and snapping him up early prevents his price tag from getting inflated by an extended multi-team auction.

I think splash means there are good players available and we have the money to go get them.

seeing Polian holding up the Lombardi must have sickened BB, Bob and Jonathan into realizing we need to reload big time.

Exactly correct...and add to it that the front office realizes how close they were to #4 last year.

I'll give the front office credit....no spending issues this year on their targeted players. They really seem to have things well planned out....wether you agree with all their plans, and I don't...(e.g. Welker, Brady)...they have all their ducks in a row this off season so far.
