okay so we got thomas, GREAT pickup i almost pooped myself....
I really like kyle brady and i think he was another good pickup to take over grahams role...any thoughts? i ha vent watched him much, hows he compare to graham, obviously a downgrade, but will he get the job done, the guys pretty old.

I think with mills/thomas/watson we still have one of the best TE groups in the league

really just trying to get discussion going ... let me know what you think

This possible signing has so much scandal surrounding it.

Will Tom be forced to put a T on the back of his jersey?

:p

I havent followed his career but from what I hear and read they all agree that he definately is a blocker. He is 35( I think) and I am sure he will be happy with that role(blocking.. hello Mat light). From a pass catching perspective we have Watson and Thomas. I think we should be all set here.

I think its a nice signing for blocking purpose.. Watson and Thomas will be the main tight ends..

I think Brady is the second leading receiver in Jags history, behind Jimmy Smith, so he obviously can catch as well as block.

After being asked to take a salary cut by the Jaguars, it didn't take long for tight end Kyle Brady to find the payday or the Super Bowl contender that he was looking for on the free-agent market.

Brady came to terms on Friday night with the New England Patriots on a two-year contract worth $5.3 million, including a $2 million signing bonus that was worth more than the 2007 salary that his old team had offered.

Keep in coming BB&SP,can we say a WR:eek:

I guess this oficially ends the chance that Grahmbo comes back to us.

Are there any other sources that announce the signing? I think it would be huge.

I don't quite get the K. Brady deal.......how old is this guy? Isn't there any better TE FA's out there than this guy? Fauria just got cut in Wash....we know what he can do for us......kind of surprised at this one...maybe I am missing something. But,,.,BB knows best.......that is the main thing

Kyle Brady update
The Florida Times-Union reports in their Saturday editions that tight end Kyle Brady has agreed to a contract with the Patriots.

The report indicates Brady's deal is a two-year, $5.3 million package, with a $2 million signing bonus.

"My whole thing was to go out and find a team that wanted me and would show that by the contract they were offering," Brady told The Times-Union. "Plus, a team that's within reach of a Super Bowl, and this one always seems to be among the AFC elite."

Brady visited with the Patriots on the first day of free agency. He is projected to fill part of the void left by Daniel Graham's departure.

good signing..not as good as Graham but hes a very good blocker and a great guy and Jaguar fans are saying he deserves a chance on a great team.

as a receiver he wont be anything like Graham really ..not as fast and not as big of a threat but as a blocker..hes a few notches behind Graham.

He's 6'6" so I think he's going to be a pretty big target in the endzone. I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes with around 7 or 8 TDs. If those are the only catches he makes, and he blocks like a third tackle, I'll be plenty happy with this signing.

you realize the most TDs he had was 5

hes not much of a receiving threat..small hands..not fast. im fine with Watson and Thomas catching those.

I'm not concerned with what he has done in the past. I (and this is just my opinion) think he can be a good target in the end zone. The Pats throw a good deal to the TEs that are feigning a block and then breaking off. You have a 6 & 1/2 foot guy who is known as a blocker. Put two and two together.

i doubt he can be a good target in endzone now if he wasnt when he was 25 years old. how often do we throw high balls for our WR to go get it..usually we do a playaction and sneak the TE otu and hes wide open or we throw it low which is a safe pass

That's one of my points. He's a blocker, so he can sneak out and probably go unnoticed.

Regarding not throwing jump balls (which they do on occasion, see the Gaffney TD against the Colts), the Pats don't have a receiver (TE or otherwise) who is 6'6". Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the tallest guys Watson, Thomas and (used to be) Graham at 6'3". Brady's different and I wouldn't write him off as a target, but that's just me.

There probably is not a better blocking TE on the market with the exception of Graham. And that is the only thing the Pats are looking at for this spot. Watson and Thomas are going to be the pass catchers. Brady is coming in strictly as a blocker. He's tough, physical, and is going to help open holes for the running game.

We needed to repace Graham's blocking, not his receiving. While no TE will touch Graham's blocking, Brady isn't bad himself.
