Could the Pats afford Thomas and Stallworth??

I dont know what the cap hits would be , or do we eat all of our cap with this one signing.. Stallworth , Thomas, maybe Hardwell on the cheap, or Donnie Edwards, or maybee Kelly Washington or Dennis Northcut .. Would really make a sweet offseason.. I know its only 1 day, but I hope we have enough to give some help to Brady and the offense...

we will still have a significant amount left but who knows where we would wanna use it. there are still a few needs but we may be better served using the money to make some of our own happy and filling needs in the draft.

I'd rather roll the dice on Hartwell. Atlanta is the Bermuda Triangle of football. A change of venue might do the trick. Plus we already have one chronically injured WR.

To answer the question, you still have to figure Thomas' hit doesn't have to push into eight figures... so let's call it 10M this year, including this year's piece of the signing bonus (maybe I'm wrong, but work with me...) if that's the case, it takes us down into the $10M range left. Plenty for one or two mid-tier guys.

Joe Horn is too old to continue playing at this point. Three years ago I would have taken him but not now. I think Stallworth would be the logical decision. I can't believe you don't get the hype on him. True, he does have a history with hamstring problems, but when he's on the field, he's an absolute burner. A huge deep threat. I would take him in a second and then hope to develop Chad Jackson so we have two speed guys that could break into the secondary at any moment.

We still need to sign some of our own free agents to. I would love for them to retain Sauerbrun.

They could if they wanted to, but would they really want to give a big deal to a free agent wide reciever after not willing to give Deion one last year? I know Deion was still under contract and everything, but I'm not sure how this would go down in the locker room.

Forget Horn. Like Kontradiction said, he's too old. Plus, he seems to be an absolute head case. I think the Pats should stay away from a washed up WR of questionable mental stability.

Bennett is still an option, as you said. Supposedly the Rams are very interested, but maybe the Pats still have time to step in. I think we can assume Curtis is out of the question. So, to me, that really leaves Stallworth. I'll bet his contract demands are unreasonable at this point (after all, the guy only had 38 catches last year), but if he were to come down on that, I bet the Pats would step in and take him. They need somebody to stretch the field, and Donte certainly fits the mold. Justin Gage and RFA DJ Hackett are other options.

Agreed. While you'd have to expect some missed games due to injury, Stallworth would be a major addition. I was really hoping that we would have traded for him last year.

I'm not real hyped on Horn either. You make a good point though. Let's say we aquire Stallworth. Let's say he stays fairly healthy like he did in 2005. Having Stallworth, Caldwell, Gaffney Jackson (whenever that happens) makes for a pretty salty WR corps. Maybe one of the deepest in the league. I'd be surprised if we get him, but I could see how adding him would make this group pretty stinkin good.

contracts like Tom Brady and Rosevelt Colvin.
