This is my favorite part:

Ryan keeps a copy of the DVD in his office at the Ravens' practice facility, and from time to time, he'll pop it in. For football fanatics, it's better than porn. The tape begins with Thomas' playing nose tackle and ends with his walking out past the hash mark to line up as a corner on Chad Johnson. Press coverage. Pro Bowl receiver. By a 270-pound man. "Man, get your big, fat ass back inside before I embarrass you," Johnson yelled with a dismissive wave of his hand.

"Watch this," Ryan giggles. At the snap, Thomas jams Johnson at the line of scrimmage and drives him backward all the way to the Gatorade table. Ryan freezes the frame, and the room falls dark and silent for a few seconds. Then Ryan adds: "In 10 years, when this kind of physically versatile player is a full-blown phenomenon, people will be wondering who started the whole trend. And you'll be able to point back to this moment and say, 'Hey, I know who it was.'"

man that is some serious stuff!

awsome :rocker: :rocker:

Can't wait to see him do that against Reggie Wayne!

makes you wonder why he fell to the 6th round

Everytime I read another article about him I can't wait for training camp!

Guys, this is only day one of the '07 season. I'm on cloud 9 right now. Give me a reciever and I'll take a trophy right now. (that last statement is made by someone on cloud 9, not someone who realizes we need depth in the secondary, linebacking core and posibly a starting strong safety. A role playing RB, Garitt Thomas to be what he was hyped to be with the loss of Grahm....actually the list is kind of short). Give me a trophy!!!

that is so sweet

He is Pats kind of player. Who knows, maybe he will be able to add an offensive position to his repetoire.

I did not believe this possible signing at first, but as the day goes on it seems more and more real...

You can tell this guy had to work to get where he was, the kind of player I like, you are talkin about a 6th rounder who came into the league and made the Pro Bowl being a gunner on special teams.. at 270 lbs!!

Awesome article!

Yeah, BB will go wild with that kind of destructively versatile player.

And more conservatively speaking -- we REALLY needed a guy who is both a no-apologies pass defender and a no-apologies run stuffer.

Adding even more of them would be nice too ...

Everything you hear or see about this guy gets better and better. I'm very excited. Could be the biggest impact signing for the Pats in awile - if he is everything he is supposed to be.

Before. Thomas was pick 186, Brady was 199. We took Antwan Harris with pick 187, FWIW.

Not to mention Marc Bulger at 168. Neil Rackers, Paul Edinger, and Mike Anderson have certainly had their moments too. Pretty good 6th round I'd say.

So did Brady man,,,,this kind of stat is irrelevant......

Ryan Leaf and Rick Meier were first rounders....how'd they work out?
