So far Zack Studfeld has turned into Zack DudFeld :(

As long as he is not injured or in prison, I am very pleased with Sudfeld's performance. He ran a number of routes yesterday where he took linebackers with him and there were openings that led to positive yards, including the second TD to Thompkins. Sudfeld took the coverage at the goal line with him to the right while Thompkins found the opening at the back of the end zone for the score. It looked to me like he did his job yesterday.

Hopefully he turns it around. Just two games so I guess we'll see. Having Gronk back hopefully will open things up for the offense in general.

Basing it on what we saw in pre season maybe we put too much stock into him. Over time he should be fine & contribute.

No, you're wrong. Sudfeld hasn't put up numbers so therefore he's useless and should be cut.

Brady said today that he wasn't going for Sudfeld he was going to Dobson on the endzone INT.

On the interception, Brady said he was looking for Aaron Dobson, not Zach Sudfeld: “It was just a bad play, a bad throw, a bad decision, everything. Those are the ones that should be eliminated and shouldn’t happen. I was pretty bummed about it all night.” - See more at: The Blitz with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald

He's a rookie. Rookies often struggle. As with the WRs, time will tell the tale.

Hey, a calm and moderate viewpoint! What are you doing on the internet?

Yeah, Sudfeld showed early glimpses of far, FAR more than anybody realistically expected -- and sure enough, we shouldn't have realistically expected it. But he's still a young, tall, athletic kid with some very nice receiving skills. I'm looking forward to watching him develop.

Sudfeld, more than likely, will be the primary benefactor of Gronk coming back should he be healthy and hold onto the ball when it's thrown his way.

Sudfeld had all of two passes thrown to him yesterday, and one of them was a poor decision by Brady throwing into coverage when two other receivers were wide open.

As for the Buffalo game, there were plenty of players slipping on the bargain-basement turf used there. Let's not forget that he was returning from a hamstring injury; it's not unreasonable to think that he was still less than 100% healthy.

To suggest that the Patriots should cut him at this point is even more of an over-reaction than there was to his looking good in OTAs and training camp drills. It's simply way too early to make a determination one way or the other.

I suppose the grass is always greener elsewhere when people actually prefer the perennially injured Daniel Fells and his four receptions in all of 2012, or the pride of Maine, Matt Mulligan and his Steam Shovel.

Gronk, 1st 7 games.....10 catches. Dont know what Sudfeld will be, but way too early for me to make judgement. Hard for these rookies when they are thrown into the mix and expected to carry the fulll weight of the receiving corp.

I hate this whole "every time he's targeted bad things happen".

He slipped the first time. It happens. The second int yesterday was on Brady. He said today he meant to throw for Dobson but instead threw to a double covered Sudfeld. How's that Sudfeld's fault?

Actually, he didn't even throw it towards Sudfeld, that was the announcers who erroneously said that. It was thrown in the direction of Dobson, and picked along the way.

This guy is the Michael Jordan of bad threads.

You are so right, I'm sure since the Pats are 3-0 BB also has nothing to gripe about today either. All sunshine and roses. :bricks:

Sudfeld has been awful, I'd much rather have Daniel Fells.

Evidently, to you, the only two options are opposite sides of an extreme.

For those of us living in the real world, we understand it usually is somewhere in between.

Fact: Sudfeld has played 6 quarters of NFL regular season football on a bad hammy.

Why don't you hold it in for a few more games and see how it plays out before begging Daniel Fells, of all people, to save the franchise?

Obviously, Belichick shouldn't cut Sudfeld. However, as is the case with Boyce, Sudfeld has shown exactly zero. We suggest this is because he has had few opportunities. I suspect the situation is the reverse. If he were open and Brady had confidence in Sudfeld, he would have had many more opportunities in the past three games. After all, our other active TE's are Hooman and Mulligan.

I would expect that Boyce and Sudfeld will improve in the next few weeks. If not, they have gotten some game action, and will be inactive later in the year, when the injured return.

Wait a minute....

So we shouldn't have put Sudfeld in Canton based on a couple of good practices in training camp?

Damn....

As far as the camera angle goes, the pass was well to the right of Sudfeld and more towards Dobson with 2 defenders in between. I was also wondering where did this "Brady locked on to Sudfeld" thing came from :confused:

Yea, that kind of jumped out at me. Sudfeld was double covered!

Bill has said before that the TE is one of the most complicated positions on offense to learn.

From a TE group at the start of the season that looked like, Gronk, Hernandez, Ballard, Fells, Hooman, Sudfeld. We ended up with Hooman as our no 1 TE, who was on the bubble on making the 53 man roster and Sudfeld a rookie who was projected to take over Fells spot who had 4 receptions in 13 games last year.

His learning curve is even harder then the rookie WR's. He is what he is. A rookie thrust into a starting role and having some struggles.

My hopes were higher then my expectations. So far he has met my expectations but not my hopes.

I remember one camera shot after the play where Brady was on the bench looking at the stills of the play. It looked like he mouthed the word "That was on me" and then a bunch of four letter words.

I think the "Brady locked on to Sudfeld" came from the announcers. They even showed one camera angle where you can see Brady's eyes following the receiver across the field. The announcers assumed it was Sudfeld.

All I'm saying is just cuz they are 3-0 doesn't mean there is nothing to complain about, or we can't bring up that someone deserves to get cut.

I don't think Sudfeld OR Fells is going to "save the franchise" as a 3rd TE on the roster, but at least Fells can block.
