This kid looked promising all Preseason thought he would make a little impact. But unfortunately now he's living how to his Un-Drafted status. Which explains why Hooman is still on the roster BB knows that anybody is worlds better than Sudfeld right now. Watching Sudfeld out there is a joke he does nothing well ie....he cannot block and doesn't get separation in the passing game. I saw Mulligan and Hooman doing things positive out there yesterday. On Sudfeld it seems like everytime Brady throws the Ball to him something bad happens. If Sudfeld's play doesn't improve he should be removed from our Active Roster. Right now he's looking like practice squad material.

His blocking is suspect and he's not getting open while singled. He's been a massive disappointment thus far.

Just a reminder: we're *****ing about a UDFA who has played all of 2 NFL regular season games.

the team have not used 2 TE sets that much, and along with his lack of blocking skills, you won't see him on the field much as the single TE.
i'm hoping more plays will open up for him when gronk comes back.

It's still early. Only played in 2 reg season games and who knows how his hammy is feeling.

We're talking about that now, yeah. But, before he looked totally lost from Weeks 3-4 in the preseason and Weeks 1-2 of the regular season, the talk was about how the team found a diamond in the rough, he great he looked, how he wouldn't have been a UDFA had he not had all these nagging injuries in college, and how he looked to be a capable Hernandez replacement. Thus far, whether it's the hammy, the rookie jitters, or the fact that defenses continue to flood the middle of the field against the offense, he has looked completely lost. Maybe Gronk coming back and giving him some more spacing will improve his game. We'll have to see...

Its comforting to know that, despite a 3-0 start to the season, we have posters diligent enough to scour long and hard for something to gripe about - even if its a UDFA TE....you have to admire the commitment to pessimism.

The big thing to realize about Sudfeld is that he isn't a #1 TE. Once (if?) Gronkowski comes back and is healthy for a sustained amount of time we can use Sudfeld in a TE2 role.

I suggest you visit the very long and very optimistic Sudfeld thread and remind yourself how most of the board (which includes myself) felt about the guy prior to the regular season. There's nothing wrong with the points that I've made in this thread. Further, I've even pointed out reasons why his play could be suffering, which is more than can be said about posters, such as yourself, that just want to come in and "*****" about people "*****ing".

He would be best used in the H-Back role where he wouldn't be relied upon so heavily to block. One of the reasons why I wondered aloud how his game will be affected with Gronk back in the fold.

So, instead of unjerking your knee over Gostkowski's ONE miss this year that you had been harping on (crickets from you regarding that today, eh?), you are now moving onto the rookie TE who played his 2nd career game on a bad hammy?

Look, if our DE's were all hurt, you'd be squishing on Jamie Collins right now.

Think for a momemt - - Sudfeld is a UDFA rookie who has shown flashes of talent in TC. If you see him as anything more than a PROJECT right now, you are hallucianting.

Take a breath and get some perspective. There are far too many knee-jerkers around - - good thing they have all lost their keyboards today regarding Dobson/Thompkins.

I think he was overhyped from the beginning, everyone was hopeful including myself that Sudfeld would be some type of cosmic repayment for the outcome of Aaron Hernandez situation here. He may offer some potential long term but he is not ready now, he has struggled since his fumble in week 3 of the preseason, so either it's a confidence thing or he was playing at a unsustainable level prior to then.

Maybe he will benefit from playing a flex TE role when Gronkowski returns, that is my hope anyway.

Compared to how he was looking in TC and Weeks 1 and 2 of the preseason, yeah.

Another one who bases his regular season expectation on TC and weeks 1 and 2 of PS.........

I'm massively disappointed in Cedric Cobbs.......

Perhaps the issue is what method some are using to form their expectations.

I think it makes sense to be excited about his potential after his preseason performance.

On the other hand, if you're 'massively disappointed' with his play after a couple of regular season games (and a hamstring injury), you may have been a little too excited.

If Hernandez didn't kill anyone he probably wouldn't even be on the team, so I'm keeping my excitement guarded for now. There's a lot of football left to be played.

You are so right, I'm sure since the Pats are 3-0 BB also has nothing to gripe about today either. All sunshine and roses. :bricks:

Sudfeld has been awful, I'd much rather have Daniel Fells.

A TE has more to absorb than a WR since they not only have to learn how to be a receiver in this offense but also how to be a blocker. It only took 3 games for Dobson and Thompkins to start showing real flashes, I'm willing to give Sudfeld a whole 3 games as well.

It would appear that I wasn't alone in that, though I didn't go over the top like some did...

I thought it was appropriate to have some sort of expectation for a player using TC reports and preseason games to form that opinion. If not, what else should I use? Outside of innate knoweldge of the in's and out's of Nevada's offense during Sudfeld's time there as well as the ability to see into the future, I'm open to suggestions for future use. Based on that thread, a lot of posters in this forum should be too.

I hate this whole "every time he's targeted bad things happen".

He slipped the first time. It happens. The second int yesterday was on Brady. He said today he meant to throw for Dobson but instead threw to a double covered Sudfeld. How's that Sudfeld's fault?
