Great signing on Thomas. Easily the best player on the free agent market, and it seems like you got a pretty good deal too. $7.5M a year when above average guards like Steinbach and Dockery are getting $7M a year.

Is a scary signing from a Colts' fans perspective. Add a LB like Willis or Siler in the draft and your LB position goes from a question to possibly the best in the league. Add that to your DL and it's a great defense.

Draft a WR with your other first round pick (in a great WR draft) and the Pats (unfortunately) look like the team to beat in the NFL next year.

Just wanted to give you guys an opinion from a rival fan looking at this rationally. This is a great fit for you guys.

coltsfan, I'll be keeping my eye on you. You seem like a classy, rational poster, which is rarity!

Classy post. Congrats on the Championship!

Thanks, Colts fan. We are obviously a tad excited about this right now! Classy post!:)

thanks for the props, to be honest (and I think you realize this) the AFCCG loss to your Colts has obviously propelled the Patriots front office and ownership into overdrive. They usually dont jump in with a big splash the first day of free agency. Peyton exposed a weakness in the second half of that game, by burning Tedy, etc - we needed to get better, younger at LB.

With the franchising of Asante, and now this, I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of this. The war is on with the Colts - lets sit back and enjoy this great rivalry and watch as the PAts reload to take on your defending champ Colts.

If the Patriots can pick up Willis in the draft, and bring back Seau for one more year, this linebacker corps is dangerous. Rotation of Vrabel, Thomas, Colvin on the outside, and Vrabel, Bruschi, Thomas, Seau, Willis on the inside... pretty good, I'd say.

Thanks for the props.

Class act coltsfan.

We obviously feel like this is a huge upgrade for our defense but we still have a long way to go before we talk about Super Bowl.

Again, thanks for the congrats. Congrats on the Super Bowl title.

No prob. I am an NFL fan so I love watching guys like Thomas play and have great respect for his abilities. He is a great player. It also sets up the rest of your offseason perfect as I outlined.

Also allows you guys to move Vrabel back inside. Alexander I thought was terrible against the Colts, and BB may have actually made a mistake in benching Cain and getting Vrabel out of the middle of the field.

Don't sleep on Brandon Siler in the draft. I live in SEC country so I've seen him play a lot. He's got great instincts. Also keep in mind the relationship between Belichick and Urban Meyer.

Do you guys agree with me that this makes the Pats the very early favorite at this point looking at next year?

Thanks, coltsfan. Good to have an objective take on this. and congrats on beating us in the AFCCG and winning the Super Bowl. If not for Bill Polian, a lot of us would have been even happier for you, Dungy, Peyton, etc...

I'm pretty sure the Colts won the Super Bowl last year. There's no favorite but your boys until something drastic changes that. This was close, but not enough.

Winners can be gracious, huh? Great season, I though Peyton showed a lot of grit and a great job by the coaching staff.

Too bad it can only last a year.:D

Coltsfan -- we aren't the favorite, your team is. We need additional moves to shore up some things. This is a great start for us, though.

I wish you no congrats on Thomas. He should have went to SF.

:)

Appreciate that guys. My reasoning there is that the two teams were pretty equal last year, but the Pats have more cap room and draft picks to get better for next year. The cap room has already showed, and now you will be picking twice before the Colts pick once in the draft.

Thanks for the classy comments, and congrats on a great year by your beloved Colts.

I don't know if one signing makes the Pats the team to beat, Thomas certainly makes our defense better, as does the franchising of Samuel. We still need some talent in the linebacker area, and the secondary to be considered a great defense.

Offense is where we have the most holes, in my opinion. Our running game was putrid late in the season, and we may have to ugrade the O-Line to make that part of the team championship level. Obviously we need a ton of help in the receiver area as well.

Our Pats have many holes that need to be filled, and despite your kind words, I don't think this one signing makes our team the favorite. With the Colts machine-like offense (I mean that as a sincere compliment), and improved defense, and the knowledge by the Colts that the monkey is off their backs, and that they know how to beat their arch enemies (3 straight "W's" agaist the Pats), I think the Champs are still the team to beat. Add to that, a brutally difficult schedule for the Pats, and their tendency to suffer debilitating injuries every year, and I don't think the Pats are the favorites.

If this does come true, it certainly is exciting, and a big boost to the Pats D.
Hopefully we meet again in the AFCCG next year, and we'll see what kind of impact Adalius Thomas has.

CF, your offense is downright scary - the no huddle hurry up made other teams wilt. Peyton has finally learned to be a game manager, and not overdo it - The Colts are the team to beat next year....

We need a decent WR or two, not a collection of #3's who get a case of the dropsies on the carpet in Indiana in Jan!

Bigmike - you are right......Peyton finally figured it all out this year and earned his ring as a direct result.

Classy post Coltsfan - you and Ryan enjoy your championship ...we are jealous!!!!

Colts are the favorite though - you guys are the best right now. Music to your ears eh??

See you for a rematch next year, hopefully in Foxboro in January.

Classy post. Congrats on the Championship!

No doupt guy. You won't hear me say it often (it's tough sill to even form the words), but, it's heartfelt right now....... Job well done this year and thanks for the kind words. You are the standard right now.

I wish you no congrats on Thomas. He should have went to SF.

:)

ummm, now this is the crap we are used too.

True on the O. I think we will have to have a really good defensive draft though if we are to improve on D as will be needed. I was counting on Reagor to be back, so his release yesterday was a bit of a blow. Simon is still a question mark, so we really need to add some depth on the DL. It is fixable though, and I'm hoping for some decent compensatory picks for the guys we lost last year like Edge.

I thought that Gaffney and Caldwell played adequately in the playoffs if you take out Caldwell's game against the Colts. Troy Brown would be a loss if he retires. I would draft a guy like Bowe or Meachem b/c they can be #1 WRs in a year or two.
