Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked how tight end Rob Gronkowski looks this week.

“We haven’t practiced today. We’ve just been sitting in meetings; he looked great sitting in the meeting,” Belichick said.

Sounds covert for "he will be playing Sunday against the Bucs"... :D

It's just classic Bill.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's active and plays a little.

One of his classics. Gronk will suit up I think and play 10-15 snaps most. Cant bring him back next week and ask him to play 50+ snaps straightaway.

Or, he plays 10-15 plays next week, and more vs Cincy.

Yeah, classic BB (except funnier)

Sounds overt for "I wish I didn't have to talk to you ******* media dopes at all, so here's a pointless statement in response to your questions on the health of one of our superstars."

According to my sources familiar with Belichick's train of thought Gronkowski is "day-to-day."

I also wouldn't count out Amendola...

Then you'd be in the rare minority.

It's been widely reported that he's going to miss at least a few games and can barely hobble through minor activity in limited practice reps.

Amendola is once again listed as "doubtful" regarding his chances on the official injury report.

This! And this again!

It would be interesting to see a stat on how many "doubtful" listed players have actually played under BB. I can't remember any but I never much paid too much attention to it....

It's a moderate enough injury where surgery to snip the adductor longus tendon from the pubic bone was considered. Coincidentally enough, the word is that Amemdola himself totally tore this tendon, which made the doctor's work/need for surgery pretty much pointless.

Either way, the popular thinking is that it's definitely going to take him approx. a month (give or take maybe a game) to sufficiently heal--as a focus will surely be put on the "bigger picture" rather than rushing him back too early, especially with Edelman able to replicate his slot production on some level.

I don't think that expecting him to play a couple of weeks later is very reasonable myself, nor do I think that anyone else feels that it is possible. Hopefully we can see him back vs CIN in 2 weeks from now, maybe even next Sunday at ATL if he somehow heals miraculously in the next 6-7 days. We may not even see him back until the N.Orleans game in 3 weeks.

Give him drugs and he'll be ready to go.

While I wouldn't put it past BB to list a guy 'doubtful' who will play, I think you are right. Especially when you consider how he has started out, injured, yet the high value he showed when in the game, it seems ultra critical to let him get very close to 100% before he is brought back.
I hope BB holds DA out an extra week beyond being close to 100%. IMHO the first half of the season is all about survival and getting the new WRs on the same page as TB (and it won't hurt for the D to have to learn how to grit out the 13 to 10 games). Then as the second half starts, we'll see a Patriots offense that is not only back, they actually have receivers who can get open deep. Add to that a defense that can better grit out the close games and I think the 2013 Patriots have the potential to be much more balanced than the 2012 2011 2010 Patriots.
Again it's all about survival right now. Just find a way to win, ugly is perfectly ok. IMHO, a win against TB will be HUGE! It allows some of the expected losses to hit yet a 4-4 or better record remains not too difficult a mountain to climb. Conversely a loss to TB makes the survival mode plan quite a lot more tenuous given the quality of opponents upcoming.

with the number of injuries, I think BB has more injured than inactive slots.

He could list Gronk on the playing list and still not put him out there for a single play -- just to make the opponent plan around it.
(hell just put him out in a wide position alone on short side of field and not even run a route, just to see how much coverage he pulls away. would work for at least one play.)

You get the 'like' not only for the generic North Dallas Forty referenced humor but the great signature pic too. Your sig pic, as it so happens, was not far off from what I was looking at last night (Friday night). Every September for the past few years the Oakland A's put on Star Wars themed fireworks right after a game (they even go so far as to have the security that takes the field after the last pitch dressed as stormtroopers). And, believe it or not, there are actually quite a few ladies dressed similar to your sig pic. Me and my son never miss this particular game, it hits on 3 important things: cheap (25 dollars per outfield seat + 7 dollar BART ticket), star wars theme (scifi nerd), themed eye candy (which needs no reason).

Let me google that for you

To each his own, my friend. To each his own ;)

Looks like you have to hit the "play it again" option on the pop up ad screen.

$25 per outfield seat at the Coliseum to watch the A's is cheap? (I'm from Fremont and have been to the Coliseum many times)
