So, with all the discussion on the rookie's struggles last game, I decided to have a look at the all 22 film of KT's 8 targets to see if the criticism is valid. Certainly Dobson had a tough time of it with his drops, but KT's targets show alot of potential if he and Brady can get on the same page.
It also showed how gawd awful the Jets safeties were on deep balls. Kt could have had 3 TDs.
Brady incomplete, left. Pass interference on Cromartie. Brady expected KT to go deep on the play, he turned the route into an out. Cromartie got called for grabbing his jersey. Given the coverage, KT should have gone deep on the play.
Incidentally, the exact opposite happened on the second target.
Brady incomplete right. KT was the last read on the play and had the corner beat with no safety in sight. He had his hand up signalling his intention. Brady, feeling rushed in the pocket threw the out.
Screen complete for 9 yards. A patriots staple. Good blocking and good execution
Brady deep for 38 yards. Again, safety is slow to come over. KT hesitated for half a second which forced him to try and catch up to the ball, leading him out of bounds. Without that hesitation, it was a possible TD.
Brady to the endzone. We all saw this one. Soooo close.
Brady incomplete. This is the one that hit him in the breadbasket. Good route, just a drop.
Slant incomplete. KT was the first read on the play. Given the inside coverage on this play, it was not Brady's best option. KT was forced to run it flat and it went incomplete.
Crossing route incomplete. Brady flushed in the pocket, looking for an outlet. KT coming across the middle. Brady expected him to sit. KT continued to go across the field. Given the coverage, KT had alot of space to run if Brady hit him in stride.
So, from what i could see, there is a ton of potential if Brady and KT could get on the same page. And there is plenty of blame to go around. Both Brady and KT could have read coverage better and executed better. But looking at the video, I am excited to see their chemistry develop.
