This constant chatter of the national and a lot of the local media is driving me crazy. I think people forget all the efforts the Pats made to sign big free agents and failed. John Thorton was a big FA DT a few years ago and they made a serious push before he signed with Cinci. They had Mason in here for a visit, they tried to sign Samari Rolle and Jurevicius, they countered with a strong effort to Givens. In recent years they have tried to sign big ticket guys but it just hasn't worked out.

And of course, Colvin was one of the top free agents the year he was signed, and that same year they signed Rodney.

Well, they actually offered Mason more money than the Ravens, but his wife wanted to live in Baltimore. Since he is upset with his playing time, I think he regrets that decision.

I feel like I woke up in a parallel universe... Randy Moss, Adalius Thomas and two first round picks. Please don't pinch me...

All sounds good except for Randy Moss. I'd pass on him.

the pats are never big players in FA, but this year they have a ton of money and some holes, so it makes sense.

Well we will see what we do this year. In the mean time you cant make a case for us being big players until the moves we want to make are actually made.

Well they haven't done ANYTHING yet, so I'm not excited either. It wouldn't surprise me if all these things are no more than meaningless rumors.

If the Patriots ever signed Randy Moss I would have to start rooting for another team. Seriously. He is so NOT the kind of person I want to root for.
dude you won 3 sbs, man if my team won one sb they could sign bin laden for all i care

rumors are just that until he signs im not excited

I understand that but its better than the years when we didn't have anything to be excited about this time of year besides spring training.

Although its true nothing has happened yet, Adam Scefter just said "New England Is the team making the biggets waves today in free agency." He called us the favorites for Thomas, mentioned Brady, and said that they woudln't be done then.

I will wait and see what develops before I say they are Big players in FA.
We lost Corey and I'm sure Graham and maybe Troy retires. Our LB are getting old. Lets wait and see before we get too excited.
Denver is being very active this offseason and will be around next year. They be the team to beat.

St Louis is allegedly meeting with Drew Bennett today, and may sign him. Ditto for SF and Nate Clements.

Perhaps this opens up Kevin Curtis and Adalius Thomas to sign with us.

Sign Curtis, then draft Anthony Gonzalez from Ohio St. and this team is loaded at WR.

Thomas and the other draft picks, along with a healthy roster, would go a long way towards loading the D.

Just pure speculation, but very interesting.

I remain quite skeptical until a deal is done. The Pats talk to a few

high profile players each year and nothing happens. Last year BB kept

in contact with Ty Law until he signed with Kansas City but never had any

meetings with his agent.

That sounds good, but I'll believe it when I see it.
