Adalius Thomas rumored again to SF...
Joey Porter too mouthy for Patriots?

"With Baltimore’s Adalius Thomas rumored to be on his way to San Francisco to reunite with head coach Mike Nolan, Porter becomes the No. 1 linebacker on the market and a potential target for 3-4 teams like Cleveland and Dallas.
The biggest question will be putting up with his mouth. Porter talks more trash than any player in the league, and unlike Patriots safety Rodney Harrison [stats], isn’t necessarily respected for it. The Patriots, in particular, have taken issue with his proclamations over the years."

I want nothing to do with either Joe - Porter or Horn.

A-holes need not apply.

Joe Horn is an ahole?

Not sure that is accurate - he is a talented receiver and a good locker room guy.

LMAO.

Stupid fat Tomase thinks Thomas is going to 49ers.

He must have forgotten to do some research before writing the article.

I'm pretty sure Horn played for BB in Cleveland and BB likes him.

Give Tomase a break. We weren't rumored to be the forerunner for Thomas until late yesterday and early today. He might have written the story before news of the Pats pursuing Thomas broke.

Wasn't Horn the guy who removed a cell phone from under the goal post, after a TD in 2005?

That shyte doesn't fly here.

Yup, but that was a one time deal and if I remember correctly he did it to protest the fines the NFL had recently handed out.

Overall he is a great locker room guy and a good leader.

Horn is an intense guy, but not a a-hole by any stretch of the imagination. Adalius Thomas might think he was climbing an up hill battle to get where he is, but Joe Horn has been through so much worse and isn't even going to get paid like Adalius will. After Katrina, Horn was all about helping the community. He would go out and meet with people in the community. The situation was deeply emotional for the guy and it was evident that football came last when it came to what the people of New Orleans were going through.

Hope he latches on with another team and gets a another shot at a championship. He will do great things even after he is done with football.

What you on Tomase for? I like Tomase. Everybody had Thomas going to the Niners until Schefter said he heard otherwise - and who knows, he could be wrong, he could be right, but I don't blame Tomase for thinking Thomas to the Niners was a safe bet.

I would love to have the Joey Porter of 2 years ago. He is a 4 time pro-bowler who has played his whole career in a 3-4.

Sure he runs his mouth but he also fires up his teammates. He is intense guy who seems to care greatly about winning, and a top 3-4 OLB. BB would have to talk to him about not generating any bulletin board material for our opponents but I don't think it would be a problem.

What might be a problem would be Porter's contract demands. Reportedly the Steelers cut him because he was looking to hold out for more money, entering the last year of his contract. He was probably inspired by that little WR who used to play for the New England Patriots...

I have a personal problem with Tomase.

Personal enough for me to know that he lies more than the average writer should.

Lets just keep it at that.

Besides i wasnt trying to be overly mean.

Please, no Joey Porter for the Patriots. He may be a terrific player, but he is anything but a terrific person.

Other than the fact that he is a bit arrogant, talks trash and kisses other men (Bill Cowher) on the lips, why is he not a terrific person? Has he had legal problems that I'm not aware of?

Here's why, Promised Land...from Wikipedia:

Porter has been known for his conflicts with other players, league officials, and other teams.

* Porter was ejected from a 2004 game against the Cleveland Browns after getting into a fistfight with Browns running back William Green. Green was also ejected for this altercation.
* Porter is known to taunt other teams during warmups, as in the Green altercation.
* Before Pittsburgh's 2005 divisional playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts, Porter commented:

"They don't want to just sit there, line up and play football. They want to try to catch you off guard. They don't want to play smash-mouth football, they want to trick you. ...They want to catch you substituting. Know what I mean? They don't want to just call a play, get up there and run a play. They want to make you think. They want it to be a thinking game instead of a football game."[1]

* After the Indianapolis game, Porter claimed that the referees had unfairly called an interception by Troy Polamalu an incompletion because they favored the Colts, stating, "The whole world wanted Indy to win so bad, they were going to do whatever they had to do."[2] Although Porter was expected to be fined for these comments, he never was, perhaps because the NFL later condemned the official's decision.[3]
* In the weeks before Super Bowl XL Porter was angered by comments made by Seattle Seahawks Tight End Jerramy Stevens. Stevens was quoted as saying that "The story of Jerome Bettis returning to his hometown {Detroit} is heartwarming, but it's going be a sad day when he doesn't walk away with that trophy." Porter responded by saying that comments such as those made by Stevens only helped him to prepare for the upcoming game. The Steelers won 21-10. Despite catching one touchdown pass, Stevens dropped three catchable balls, leading many football analysts to believe that Porter’s trash-talk had shaken his confidence.
* Leading up to the Steelers' traditional Super Bowl Champions visit to the White House on June 2, 2006, Porter generated headlines by suggesting that he would criticize President Bush. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette quoted him as saying: "Yeah, I got something to say to Bush, I'm going to have a swagger when I walk in there, too," Porter said, laughing loudly. "I'm looking forward to it. I have something to tell him, too. I don't like the way things are running right now. I feel like he has to give me some of my money back, so I got something to tell Bush." The Steelers later released a statement saying that Porter had been joking and that he meant no disrespect. At the White House, in an effort to downplay the controversy, he was put as far as possible from the president on the bleachers behind him, in the back row on the right, wearing sunglasses.
* Porter gets fined for every game that he wears his yellow gloves. Even though they are the team's color, the league still does not allow his yellow gloves to be worn.
* He was shot on the left side of his buttocks in 2003, in Denver. He was in town for the Colorado State University/ University of Colorado football game.
* On September 21, 2006, his two dogs (a mastiff and a pit bull) got loose and killed a neighbor's 29 inch miniature horse. [4]
* Porter was voted as the second-dirtiest player in the NFL in a 2006 players' poll [5]

Thanks, Mainefan. I could argue that a lot of those could bee said about Rodney Harrison and others are just examples of what I called arrogance and trash talking, but I have to go back to work now! ;)

Tomase is among the best Patriots beat writers around. And if you think it's CRAAAAAZY that Thomas might land in SF, you're the one who might want to try your hand at research. Don't mean to get *****y about it, but the personal stuff is really unnecessary and, in the end, undercuts the legitimacy of your points.

Yes, by all means, let's call a guy a liar, base it on NOTHING, and then "just keep it at that." That seems fair. And then let's claim to not be being "overly mean" after calling someone fat and stupid. I've had numerous interactions with Tomase - the guy has always been straight, fair and honest with me, and it's clear from his work that he busts his tail far more than most of the other beat writers.

Sorry, man, having read this, it's really tough to take ANY of your posts at all seriously - and I usually like your stuff. This garbage is beneath you.

I don't know about Tomase's verasity, etc, but I find him very pedestrian. Usually writes about stuff that's been on the message boards for a couple days. To say he has a "clear sense of the obvious" would be an understatement. He doesn't really know the game that well, yet writes as if he is superior to his readers. Sorry, but it doesn't look like Tomase "busts his butt" IMHO. At best he writes stories that rarely read past the first paragraph, because he has nothing new to offer. Its almost like he watches sports center then writes an article based on what saw.

The only guy I look forward to reading is Mike Reiss. He actually tells me things I don't already know. I used to like Felger, but he's now more interested in Felger than covering the Pats
