Why? Wouldn't you want a former BB coach to do well?
Depends on where he is coaching. Why? Wouldn't you want a former BB coach to do well?
Kind of weird considering that you live fairly close to the main campus, no?
Of course I live in Pittsburgh and despise the Steelers, so maybe this is a case of the same.
Why?
Because innocent children were raped at Penn State and continued being raped because their football team was more important.
I would have loved for the program to shutdown completely, but since it's not, I just hope they never recover.
I don't care if (most) of the people involved are now gone. Penn State will always be affiliated with that and rightfully so.

While that is definitely a fair point, you'd better get used to NCAA shenanigans, because even the schools that are respected the most have their share of violations and problems. No one is immune.
As a Penn State alum, I am glad that they were punished and that the people involved will be significantly hurt; but you also have to respect the fact that the "new" kids coming in and the new regime of Bill O'Brien are attempting to overcome problems that they did not create.
If the NCAA wanted to administer serious punishment, then PSU's TV exposure/money
would've been removed.
Why is football the only thing that should be shut down? Why not universities with child abuse scandals? Why not the Roman Catholic church? Why not a whole host of other institutions?
"innocent children" is a phrase to which I heartily object. It suggests there are guilty children.
I am also a Penn State alum, and enjoy watching the games. I didn't do anything wrong, nor did any of the current players or coaches. Evidently, the school has not suffered as it has been rated very highly in a number of categories.
My scorn is for the two individuals who are alive, knew and had responsibility to act and did not. That is where the dislike should be, not on the millions of Penn State fans. The next chapter hopefully involves long prison terms for those two individuals.
Better yet, leave the programs alone and go after the individuals. The Catholic church is the organization which is the number one to be granted an exception. Evidently, the lawsuits, public awareness, and outrage has not completely deterred the practice of protecting priests. Then there is the other extreme, at Penn State Louis Freeh investigates and declares guilt without interviewing the top three officials involved in the scandal.
