Does Edelman deserve a spot on the 53 going forward?

I joke. I kid. Great game by #11 tonight. It seems like just yesterday this topic was actually a heated discussion.

Some thoughts on his performance tonight and week 1:

Not quite as automatic as WW.
Not quite as elusive as the Dark One.
Not quite as fragile as Ras-I.
Not quite as telepathic as Branch.

But hot damn, could we ask for more? Do I even need say it... not quite!

Oh yeah, he returns punts pretty good too. :D

I was about to absolutely berate you on my way into this thread.

...well done ;)

Old News.

Edelman was having a great season last year. If it wasn't for injuries he could've had a special year.

Remember the first few weeks when he was getting snaps ahead of Welker?

Ah it seems like just yesterday that people were dumping on my boy.

And yet tons of people were still treating him like a JAG this off-season.

He ain't no downfield receiver....we learned that tonight...but dare I say he could take Amendola's job if he keeps playing like this?

Man he's money in short yardage.

Been thrilled with this kid's progress, especially when you consider from where he worked his way up.

He's freaking earned it. The right way. Every damn play. 110%.

I'm always tempted to dig up old quotes of the naysayers saying he's a JAG

I was wearin his jersey with pride tonight. lol.

I wouldn't know, I didn't check this forum much in the offseason.

If that is the case... this thread is totally justified.

Edelperson on the bubble was a constant refrain by the idjits.

The only shame with Edelman is that because they restructured his contract this offseason, they can't extend him this season. :(

Oh, one more thing:

Wes Welker ✔ @WesWelker

My dude @Edelman11 is having a hell of a game. Keep it going bud!

If JE stays healthy and continues to play this good, he will get his big payday.

Edelman is Edelman. He's not quite Welker, not really Amendola, but he's Edelman. He's kind of a douche, but he seems to always be available when the people ahead of him go down.

And he stepped up today as I assumed. Edelman is a honey badger in BB's world.

Wasn't there a lot of posters calling for Ninkos head a couple of years ago too? We need patience with some guys, BB's sees something in them and sometimes it comes out and sometimes it doesn't. You have to believe if BB keeps a guy that guy has potential.

I really would like him to not play of punt returns or kick offs. On the other hand , at least he isnt playing defense.

you can't take him off punt returns! he's the all time leader!

Yeah punt returns are one of his best attributes, and the whole punt return play is entirely different from the high speed and violent nature of the kickoff return. It's much slower and allows him to make moves in space.

Definitely don't want to see anyone worth a damn returning KO's though, I certainly agree with that.
