I'd be ecstatic if this is how it turned out.

yeah i'd like that too.

Too bad we aren't getting any of those guys though.

Beason and Rouse? Please... the rest of it looks pretty good.

Casales was the guy who did it. No wonder it sucks.

You might not care for Casale's demeanor - he tends not to suffer hyperbolic baseless accusations (pro OR con) gladly, but it's silly to act like he knows nothing about the draft. If you bothered to read the explanations, they're extremely balanced, comprehensive and compelling. It's not like the guy - or anyone - is going to get every single player right, or even MOST players right. There's too little information and too many variables. But his arguments last year were certainly sound, and there ones are, IMO, as well.

"Bill we want to post a mock draft on the web site who are we interested in?"

Mark them all down as not on the Pats radar. :)

Too bad Wright's a steal in the 6th, LOL.

His reasons are just common sense that every fan should know before reading what he says.

I just don't like his draft. Houston may be a good choice at CB. Rouse will not be around at #60. We can do a lot better than Robison.

I like drafttek's computer generated draft better. And, drafttek didn't come here under 3 different user names to defend the Boston media.

And I would have no problem if your post was about "just not liking his draft." That's fine, to each his own - as I think you noticed on the draft forum, where several people seem to like the one you like, and several seem to hate it. But to insinuate that the guy has no clue about the draft seems silly and short-sighted to me. If you listened to PFW in Progress yesterday, I think you'd have found his (and the other guys') comments supportable and compelling.

I guess I could live with someone like Beason if he has the frame for another 15lbs or so. What's he like shedding blockers?

Short.....

Casale ... extremely balanced, comprehensive and compelling

wow, what an endorsement. :D How much did he pay you to say that. :D

Talk about a mood killer.

Here all these veterans are being released and my mouth is salivating then I have to look at this junk. I guess if worked out that way, I could convince myself that Hill and Wright had upside and that Beason would make the defense better, but it might take a few days.

I admit that I won't rush out to buy an Patriot jerseys with those last names across the back.

Casale might not be a good guy, but his 2006 mock actually was pretty good. Just about every guy he was high on panned out and nearly every guy that he thought was overrated either dropped or underwhelmed.

Rouse is alright, but not 2nd round. Beason is barely a Day 1 pick. The rest of the draft looks great, especially Hill in the 3rd. Where's Zak DeOssie? :D

PFW did a terrific job with their draft coverage last season, and for me at least, it doesn't matter how many picks they accurately predict. What matters most is, they do know the Pats-type player (overall). Of course there's bound to be differing opinions on prospects -- and that's always o.k. Here's a scoop for everyone -- even Belichick doesn't always draft who he wants most. So whether it's Casale or posters on this board, we may be correct in our opinions of potential Pats prospects...it's just that BB didn't have an opportunity of drafting them.

Regarding his mock, it will be weeded out as the draft approaches (because it needs to be :D ). And I do like 5 of his picks. :)

Pathetic first round picks. Houston is a complete workout warrior who was mediocre at Arkansas, and Beason probably isn't a first rounder anymore (actually I don't think he ever was) after his combine performance. And Rouse is another guy who just has speed and size and has underachieved his whole career at VT. I expected much better from Patriots.com

I would be ECSTATIC if the draft were to fall out like Patriots.com has in their mock! Although i'd LOVE Patrick Willis to fall to us at 24(thats extremely doubtful after the combine) i think that Beason could be a Beast for us in years to come and Chris Houston is a Freak in the speed and strength dept and, according to Patriots.com because i haven't seen enough of him, he's also a very good and potential shut down corner for the future.

I'd still love for us to pick up Zak DeOssie at some point though. Oh i LOVE this time of year!!

I totally agree with your assessment of Beason and Rouse. No way is Beason a first round draft pick and Rouse is currently a project at safety (in other words more of an athlete than football player). Personally, the Patriots could get better value at cornerback in the second round or possibly third round while the first round emphasize quality linebackers:

Patrick Willis
Paul Posluszny
David Harris
Tim Shaw

the 6A wright RB/FB prospect sounds very exciting...
