We lost a WR to Seattle and have their #24 pick...It would not surprise me at all if we take a WR with that very pick in an ironic fashion.

BB has surprised us before with position draft picks we don't expect early and this is my wierd feeling is what we do with #24.

Despite what 99% of you think we go for a LB or DB expect a strong possibility and mark my words that on draft day at #24 you may very well hear....

I think they take a round 1 WR and a CB. I don't know if Meachem will be there but Bowe, Jarrett and Ginn should be.

not as Ironic as it sounds. don't forget what the differnce in pay will be between a #24 WR and Meion.

I really want Meachum. I was watching some youtube footage on him the other day and he Impresses (I realize it was highlights but still)

I think it's definitely possible. When it comes to the draft, the key decisions are made in response to what happens and who is available. Say BB targets a couple LBs in the first and they both go before 24, he will go to his second option (could be a couple certain CBs or WRs or any other position). What I'm trying to say is that there are guys who will fit the system and would be drafted not only according to need, but where everyone else goes. I dont know if that really made sense. I guess, basically, on draft day, we might not get the guys everyone is saying we will right now.

I wouldn't be surprised by whatever they do, but I agree that it would be amusing to take a receiver with #24. However, I would be surprised if we went for short term need over value and BPA. I feel happy to support a team that understands the need to build for the long term, not for a shot next season.

I wouldn't think Ted Ginn would be there at #24, but few thought Chad Jackson would drop to the us in the second round in the days leading up to the draft. Granted, I think he was drafted where he should had been, if not a bit high, but the Pats didn't have another chance at him if they didn't move on him.

Ginn would be an asset to special teams and may fit the offense better than either Meacham (sp) or the pick of Jackson last year. Then they can sign a veteran and call it quits with Gaffney, Caldwell, (veteran), Jackson, Ginn, etc.

That's just it, we won't draft a WR at #24 UNLESS he does represent value. BB won't draft one that early unless he felt that player would solidify the WR corps for future years -- not just short term. When we were selecting at #21, BB stated that the player in that slot would be expected to become a starter by year two (at the earliest) -- so I'd expect the same at #24. Ironically, the second year is when we may have to fill the shoes of Troy, Rodney, Samuel, Bruschi, Wilson -- just to name several. So whoever we do select in that slot, may be ready to start as a sophomore.

*Troy's shoes = any WR who fits, not necessarily round one
Rodney = Sabby Piscitelli (R3), John Wendling (R3) -- none in round one
Samuel = Darrelle Revis (24), Leon Hall ((24)
Bruschi = Patrick Willis (24), others from #28 on

In this particular draft, I would say that the talent from #20-#35 is all about the same. To me, unless a top 20 prospect falls (Willis, Nelson, Ginn, Moss, etc) to our spot, it's best to trade our first pick down to the early 2nd round to a team desperate at some position.

At #28 we take the best of what's around (Meacham, Rice, Griffin, Pozlunzy, Houston, Staley, Woodley, etc.). Early in round 2 we still get 1st round talent, and we have some extra picks to move around.
