10 and 20 splits

Nfldraftscout has some nifty combine tables up, including 10- and 20-yard split numbers. A few things that leapt out at me:

- David Harris looks better and better, with terrific splits of 1.53/2.59. For reference, not only does that put him at the top of this year's ILB group, but it also beats every LB in last year's combine.


- Numbers to ponder:
Zak Deossie 2007
6-5, 250 4.58 2.66 1.56 26 34 1/2 10'2" 4.22 6.89

Manny Lawson 2006
6-5, 241 4.43 2.62 1.55 23 39 1/2 10'4" 4.21 6.90


- WR Aundrae Allison is impressively explosive with a 1.43 10-yard split, better than any other WR this year or last. In fact, only one other player at any position matched that time either year....would you believe, Utah SS Eric Weddle.


- Paul Soliai, an NT prospect, ran 10 in 1.63 seconds...at 344 lbs!

I have to say, this crop of potential ILBs looks promising.

This of course will move them all up. Harris will now be late first to top of the second round, Bradley mid second to mid third and DeOssie 3rd or 4th.

If the Pats ever took 3 LBs on day one after not taking any in the SP/BB years that would cause some serious buzz. I don't see it happening but we are talking about BB/SP so expect the unexpected. :bricks:

Meachem looks fastest in the second ten yards after a fairly pedestrian first ten. That bodes well for fly patterns - not sure if it says anything about coming out of cuts.

He has pedestrian change of direction and acceleration numbers: 4.31 ss, 6.97 3-cone. Looks like he's pretty much a straight line burner.

I really liked this kid before the Combine, as a stretch-the-field sleeper pick. Knew he had the speed and playmaking ability, but was curious about his ability to get off the mark. His Combine numbers now prove he has the ability to get open from the get-go. He's the complete package as a downfield threat, and has the hands and sideline ability to match. Obviously, he has some weaknesses, but IMO they're limited.

IMO, as a potential 3rd round pick, he's in the exact area I'd like to invest on another WR. Not too high or low, but has enough talent to eek into day one, and hopefully less developmental time than some day two WRs. His upside is excellent, and seems to be very coachable. Normally, I wouldn't consider anyone who reportedly takes plays off, but in this instance, from what I've read from his head coach and position coach -- that's not the case. If there are any legitimate concerns, all doubts will be removed by his HC Skip Holtz, the son of one of Belichick's best friends in football - Lou Holtz.

Keep an eye on him as a potential sleeper pick for the Pats -- I think he's worthy.

I wish we had some change of direction numbers on him, though he seemed to do well at the Senior Bowl.

He has the package as an athelete, very fast and smooth. I saw him in a couple of games and he looked, how should we say it "tentative", big time alligator arms. I think we can do better than him especially with the depth in this years class.

After the combine the WR's that really catch my eye, especially because both are quick twitch types that BB seems to prefer are Smith and Hill. Just from watching games on TV, you could tell that Hill was more quick than fast, but now after he ran the 40, hehas proven to me he does have some stretch the field capabilities.

Smith reminds me of Dioen Branch turned gang banger.
