even if we have to give up our 2nd pick, we need to do it. this guy is stong, buffed, loves to hit and runs a 4.35 he reminds me of a young Rodney

I agree the guy is going to be a beast. But if he'd 10-12, it's gonna take more than a 2nd round pick.

If he slips to 14-16 I think it could be done, but he's not going to. The guy made himself alot of money at the combine.

He will not slip close to where the pats will be and if they move up it would cost too much.

Unfortunately, our 2 1st round picks won't get us high enough to get Landry. So, what makes you think our 2nd round pick will get us up high enough?

too bad seatlle went undefeated in games decided by three pts or less

Where do you see hm going? According to the draft value chart the Pats two first rounders equals the 8th overall pick. Of course, a team does not need to go by that, but withthat in mind I think the Pats might have enough to get him.

this is exactly why i think the pats should just use the pick this year and not trade it. either #1's

I don't see him making it past the Falcons at 10 The guys a good football player for sure.

i think if we give up a 3rd to it would be worth it, we have seen our 2nd and 3rds not be sucessful, johnson, hill, jackson, scott, williams, id take Landry and a linebacker at 28 and id call it a good first day

Ah, not to be a party pooper, but what exacly are your memories of a "young Rodney?" Were you a Chargers fan way back when?;)

I'd say, we both meant we were thinking that Landry seems to explode onto the play the way, I imagine, a young Rodney Harrison did. And yes, this nitpicking is worth the bother because Landry could eclipse Harrison as a star.

If the Pats really want him, they have the ammo to go up and get him.

As much as I like Landry this isn't happening.

Didn't the trade up to 13 to get Ty Warren?

Yes but that was one spot and we gave the bears a 7th rounder.

Even the Graham trade up to 23rd was a first and a third.

A first and a third in this case moves us up from 24 to 20 and he'll be long gone.

Our two firsts would do it.

I'm not saying it's going to happen but if we do we have the ability to make it happen.

No doubt we have the picks but BB/SP are not going to trade two firsts for anybody.

I agree and I feel with the DB depth in this draft it's unnecessary.

There are too many good quality S's in the draft to consider trading the two first rounders for Landry. I love Griffin, he reminds me of a Bob Sanders type of player, he always plays like he was shot out of a cannon. . . . . .

I hear this idea from several posters in this thread - there's plenty of talent later... we can get a good player without trading up. This premise could be true, we could pick a contributor by luck later on. But we don't need 'solid' players right now. We don't need a first year Samuel, Eugene Wilson, Chad Jackson, etc. We would benfit most from plugging in a young energetic super-stud who steps right in and stars. We could hope to grab someone from the "depth" at the DB position instead, but the later you pick the higher the odds your player will be not be a star. Just look at the debate that goes on around the number one pick.

Saving our picks to get two or three decent long term additions to the Pats is a bad deal compared to shipping them all to get one instant power star who can change our entire defense from day one. Landry may be special, very, very special (yes, no one knows if he will be), and while no player is a certainty, the risk befits the possible reward. We need one or two instant studs - not a few more eventual starters.

The draft value chart went out the window as soon as the new CBA was signed. Why? Because of the difference in the length of contract that can be signed. Bob Kraft has been on record as saying that its more economical to have the later 1st round picks than picks in the top 10.

I don't see Landry being worth two potential starting players of talent that may or may not be slightly less than what Landry brings to the table. And, from what I've seen, Landry stands to be top 10.

Wouldnt the new CBA make our two picks even more valuable because of the point Kraft made? It is a much better long term value that keeps the cap under control. Ya right now there are teams that have loads to spend, but they will blow it and pin themselves again.
