Only semi-suprised. He has been hurt for pretty much the entire past two seasons.

What was the situation with him in Indy this year? I see he only played 4 games (8 catches). Was he injured?

Because it sure would be sweet to steal him from Indy, if he still has something left.

Yes, he was injured.

It's been two years already since he's done anything. And I think it's very probable that during his good year he was just reaping the benefits as a passenger on Manning's record season.

i wouldnt give him a real big contract but if he wants the closest QB to Peyton in terms of running the offense or even better..than he can come here

Well he did have 40+ catches in 2005, but you are right that 2004 was his only very impressive year. I'd think he'd be worth a shot at the right price, but the problem is that we don't really need another third or fourth guy at the position.

He was a good slot guy before his injuries. Vet presence at the position if Troy decides to retire. One injury was a broken bone, IIRC. Be nice to have someone you don't have to "coach up".

there is a good chance he has lost many a step, he tore his achilles so he is pretty much lost for most if not all of the offseason, i think we will be able to do better than him in fa

Stokely(or Brokely, if you prefer:D ) is the perfect slot receiver for us, when he's healthy. Thats the problem, the man is made of glass and will be coming off of a MAJOR injury next year. Polian screwed up royally when he gave him that big contract.

I know he loves playing with Peyton so, hopefully he can rehab the achilles and come back at a much lower price. I'm not holding my breath though.

When everyone said there were no WR free agents I cautioned that there would be plenty of cuts coming and sure enough there are.

That being said, I consider Stokely as someone who can add WR depth if healthy. I think there are plenty of guys averagaing 10-15 yards per catch who can be signed affordably (take Jabbar Gaffney for example)

So signing Stokely or anyone like him if the price is right doesn't hurt, it doesn't address our need for a deep threat.

There is nothing in Stokley's recent history that says he will play the majority of games in any given season. I think he benefitted more from playing with Reggie and Marvin than Peyton. It's very rare that you run up against a team that has 3 QUALITY corners and Stokley was able to take advantage of that very well. He will 31 heading into next season and his wheels are broken. He is coming off bad injuries to his knee, ankle and achillies. He'll be a good number 3 for a team that has some WR depth, if he can stay on the field, but I wouldn't count on more than 30 to 40 catches and 4 or 5 TDs.
