Tebow released

So Belichick doesn't have some sort of super secret plan for him. It was just straight up competition between him and Mallett where Mallett outplayed him by a healthy margin. Unless they bring him back or another team scoops him up, this may be the coup de grace for his NFL career. I wish him and his supporters the best of luck. This thread will probably reach 2,000+ posts.

Wouldn't be shocked to see him back at some point.

It was the right decision. As good as he may have been in the dressing room,he simply does not have the necessary skills to be an nfl qb. I hope his supporters find peace in that fact. I suspect it is the end of the road for tebow as an nfl qb.

Good luck Teebs. Was hoping he'd find a way on the roster. But in the end there was no spot for him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back in a pats uniform again one day.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's back later this year.

The Patriots installed the read-option and pistol w/ Tebow over the summer...

I wonder why'd they'd make such a commitment, only to turn around and cut the only QB on the team who can run it. Mind you, I don't think it was installed for the benefit of Tebow. I think it was for the benefit of the D; They get reps to prepare them for the games against run-first qbs.

Not saying I want Tebow back (once Gronk's status is secure). But I think it makes sense to pursue a QB who can run that read-option and pistol offense; so the D can get quality reps.

Thanks Tebow's god. now the circus can leave town

I wonder why'd they'd make such a commitment, only to turn around and cut the only QB on the team who can run it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say its because he's not very good at being a QB or throwing the ball. Read option also means he has to throw it once in a while and if teams know there is no way he can be successful throwing the ball then they can simply stack the line and stop the run.

At the end of the day, Tebow was an unsigned football player brought in to compete for a roster spot. Somehow both the "fanboys" and "haters" seemed to take the signing as something more.

I wish him the best of luck, just like every other player around the league who finds himself looking for work today.

What a complete and utter waste of offseason snaps for a developmental 3rd QB.

Fixed that for you. Mallett got plenty of snaps for a QB2.

Wonderful force of positivity -- just not on the field. Wish him the best.

Simple: they didn't. They never installed a new offense, they just had a small package of plays that were better suited to Tebow than their other QBs.

Are all you guys happy now? :(

I think this is the right move from a football standpoint, but I think it is shameful how so many people in this forum had such hatred and vitriol for the guy. He was brought in to try out, he gave it his best and he did absolutely nothing to hurt or embarrass the team.

He was not good enough to make the final cut, but there is no reason for so many in here to hate him so much.
nailed it:rocker:

Please God no. No! No! No!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I appreciate Bb giving him an honest chance at trying out for the team. Thank you to the people on this board that discussed him respectfully and as a football player. I will still follow the Patiots and may stay around and buy a Brady jersey :). TT was treated with respect and decency from the coaches here even if not always by all the fans.

He's a nice kid and I wish him the best.

Who knows, if he takes a year off and does 300 days training with Tom House, maybe we can give him a look again next year.

In the meantime, my prediction was right on to the day. Has anyone at Gillette tallied up the final receipts of his jersey sales yet?
