The trading period opens Friday. New England and Jacksonville reportedly also are interested in Moss.

"Moss quit on us last year," one Raiders employee said. "My feeling is he wants to go someplace where they can win. He knows he only has X number of years left and he's never, ever won at any level."

Oh, boy. Here we go again.

IMO Theres no way a proud franchise like the Packers will let a guy on their team which at one point in a game against the Vikings Randy faked like he was pulling his pants down and mooning the end zone crowd after a touchdown and the fans there literally hit the roof with those actions.....No way he goes to cheeseland, the fans would go bonkers, they HATE Moss and won't change if he became a packer which wont happen anyway.

This is not like T.O. and Dallas like when he stomped on their star as an eagle and is now a cowboy,Its a different situation and more degrading.

Take GB out of the Moss sweepstakes,I say he gets traded to a team who in return can send a QB or top OL to Oakland as some of the trade compensation.

Who will take him? He has a huge salary, is 30 years old already, takes plays off, is easily combustible, and has had 2 bad years now.

Al Davis will be lucky to get a 3rd round pick for him.

I guess the Jags make some sense then, if they really are trying to get rid of Byron Leftwich. Then the Raiders would be free to make Calvin Johnson the number one pick. You just know that Crazy Al's drooling over Johnson.

Not sure how much truth there is to this.

but as a fan you have to give it a thought. In other years i would say no and move on but there are not many good FA WR on the market.

that being said those of you who think Moss' situation is similar to corey's think again. Corey's off field issues with police were prior to his pro career and Moss has had issues with police and marijuana since being drafted. plus corey quit on his team after being replaced as a starter and being fed up with losing. Moss quit when he was the starter and one of a few stars on offense.

and with that being said as a fan we only know what we read BB and SP would give it due dilligence and if they deemed Moss someone who would work hard for a winner than it would be a nice pick up because Brady deserves a reciever with his abilities.

so here is hoping Randy can be the next Corey but I doubt it.

IMO TO's stomp on the star was much worse than Randy's fake moon.

I wouldn't give up a first day pick for him. Nor a lot of money.

Even if he talks a good game, he's more Dillon than Harrison. We got one (GREAT) year out of Dillon. After that he was so-so; not a public trouble maker but a little bit of an iffy attitude and an extreme desire to leave the game after 2-3 carries for a rest. Dillon was a marginal trade other than 2004. As opposed to Harrison who is the real deal. Moss is way closer to Dillon and I'm not giving up much for him.

I thought the Jags wanted to get rid of Garrard,Not Leftwich from what I read this month.

The conspiracy theorists believe that Leftwich was publicly made starter to increase his trade value.

Moss' value to the Pats can't be underestimated. Everyone saw how bad a day our receivers had against San Diego, and in Indy we couldn't even go downfield once. Put simply, Moss will make opposing D's gamplan with respect to him and his downfield ability (something we haven't had since 83 left). This can create opportunities for the other pass-catchers. He could probably light up some bad teams and be held in check against tougher D's, so his stats won't be amazing, but his presence would be valuable.

In your unbiased opinion,Don't you think Hobbs impression of the lights out dance on the Charger logo in S.D. equaled or surpassed what T.O. did?

Since it was a playoff game and the game was over and the home team already lost you gotta admit the dance may have been more of an insult than T.O.s version of the stomp which happened during the game, not when the game was final.

No. For a couple reasons.

1. When Hobbs did his dance, the game was over, and people were filing out and he wasn't on television. It was more of a "we won, f- you for running your mouth" type thing. Still not wise, but a little different.

2. What TO did, he did DURING a game, when he knew all cameras and eyes were on him and him alone, and he ran 50 yards to the middle of the field to do it...and did it TWICE. (and once in Philly on the small star in the end zone.)

I was really upset with Hobbs action after the game and I think it got overshadowed by how the chargers reacted. But I am not 100% sure(95% maybe) that hobbs intentially did the dance on the charger logo as the game was over and players and coaches tend to make their way to midfield to shake hands and talk. TO ran 50 yards in the middle of the game just to do it so yes I think TO's was worse. with all that said im sure it was equally insulting to the opposing players.

I didn't like what Hobbs did, either - but feel free to acknowledge that that stupid-***** dance is itself a mockery, of whoever gets sacked/tackled by Merriman. Give me a break with this junk. The Chargers and their fans talked WAY WORSE smack all freakin' week - trust me, I live here - and the Hobbs thing was, while regrettable, paled in comparison to what Merriman did ALL YEAR and what he did during the game (after a friggin' hurry, for God's sake).

besides the front 7 trying to stop LT, hobbs had the hardest day of anyone...they kept testing him and throwing it in his direction....

instead of doing some stupid dance IN-game for making a big play, he let it build till the end of the game...LT said how the actions of the players may have come off the coach, yeah, it did, hobbs kept his head in the game until the clock reached 0:00, and then he celebrated...

the only time i saw merriman do his stupid spasmodic dance was when he tackled tom brady, after brady already threw the ball....no sack, just an inc...the oline shut down the linebackers, so they ahd to go off into coverage more

It's actually three bad years in a row. He had a down year his last year in Minnesota.

I'll pass on Moss. I think injuries has taken his toll on Moss. I don't think he is an elite WR anymore. Too much risk and I don't think the upside is all the great anymore.

My guess is that the rumor that we are interested in Moss is based soley on our needs at WR.

I don't think he is either Dillon or Harrison. Dillon never quit on his team no matter how bad they were. Dillon's biggest attitude problems came when he lost carries to Rudi Johnson. Moss has quit on two teams in three years. We have never acquired a player with the same problems as Moss. I don't see Dillon and Moss as remotely the same type of player or situation.

I disagree. If Randy Moss is the Randy Moss of the last three years, people won't have to respect him or gameplan him.

Also, unless we revise our offense quite a bit, Moss is not suited to be an every down WR with the Pats. The Pats go after small, quick WRs for a reason. The routes the receivers run in our offense are not suited for bigger WRs. Moss is built for a team that has a consistent vertical passing game which the Pats don't run. I can't see Moss being anything but a #3 WR in our offense because we would have to strip away a lot of our playbook when he is on the field.

I don't think the "type" of offense or receiver that the Pats utilize is what will be the problem. If BB has the personnel to do something different he isn't going to sit there trying to jam a square peg into a circle hole. Maroney is a perfect example of this. They knew the talent is there, they know he's the best bet at running back, and they are changing their running scheme to compliment his style of play.

Moss would be the best thing at receiver and they would utilize his skills in a manner that would help the team win ball games.

Now, as for his ability/willingness to block in the running game... therein lies another problem, but I don't think they wouldn't go for him because he is different than all the other receivers they have utilized in the past.
