Deplorable combine coverage on NFL Network (rant)

It's better than nothing. I'll admit I thought last season's coverage was much better. Then again it's better than being left out in the dark waiting for a magazine to be put on the stands.

Uh, did anyone watch the DL/LB coverage today? It was much, much better--dare I say it was borderline good? Weird, eh? Maybe they do read these boards.;) But seriously, someone at that network had to have changed their strategy because it was night and day from the weekend.
It was hard to call it better, we got to see tape of some of the DL running the 40, part of a couple line drills, part of a couple LB drills for the DEs, some of the LBs 40s, and part of two drills for the LBs. It was about as good as last years, which sucked. It just goes to show how bad this years was that you could find this an improvement.

:agree:

I watched for about a hour this morning and they were showing the DE/OLB drills and everyone's 40's almost uninterrupted. No puff pieces, barely any commercial breaks, and get this, whenever a player was focused in by the camera, the analysts actually talked about them instead of going off about Quinn, Thomas, Okoye, etc.

For those that don’t get NFL Network, you are missing out because for the brief stretches that they actually show the combine, it is very cool. However, you aren’t missing much because their coverage is a shell of what it should be.

Thanks for making me feel better. I'm on the fence about getting the dish explicitly for the purpose of getting the NFL Network.

yes, yesterday's (monday) coverage was a drastic improvement over Sunday. I too was shocked with how much yukking they producers allowed to go on compared to last year. Somebody, I'm asssuming they must have a quality control person, must have pointed out the shortcomings of this year's first few broadcasts because they did cut way back on the talking and showed more ofwhat was happening.

Sat. and Sun. were hardly worth watching - it felt like the producers considered what was happening on the field to be superfluous to the jibber jabber on the set. Many times the screen would flash to a player running a drill and NO ONE would even mention who it was was! Or they'd show someone running and say their name but not mention his school, his size, his expectations , anything, it was incredible.

I love the NFL Network and constantly watch it.
I was really disapointed with the first few days coverage of the combine but I agree with all of you that say it was way better yesterday.

Even with linebackers it was leagues ahead of what it was before.

They must have gotten a crapload of complaints

Oh my gosh, they were back in chat-a-matic from today. When the DB's were doing the change of direction drills, the four annoucers (Eisen, Mayock, Vermeil, and Prime Time) would sometimes let four or five players go unidentified while they chuckled and snickered about how many times Neon Deion has been married. It was terrible. What a shame for people actually trying to pick up something about the future pros (oops, isn't that who would be watching?). If you didn't have alist of players matching with their numbers you most often had NO IDEA who was working out and the men at the mike seemed fine about not telling you.

Yup, just what I expected when they worked so hard promoting the Deion diarrhea they had scheduled for today. I was actually surprised they left the camera on the players so long.

I thought some things was funny . Sanders said when Giants
was interviewing him they wanted him to take a test. He said where
are drafting in order. The giants said 15.Sanders said goodbye ill be
long gone before your pick.and he left. He also mention BB interview with him.
