I am going to list guys that I think after the combine will not be at 24

QB
JaMarcus Russell
Brady Quinn

RB
Adrian Peterson

LT
Joe Thomas
Levi Brown

WR
Calvin Johnson

TE
Greg Olson

DE
Gaines Adams
Jamal Anderson
Adam Carriker

DT
Alan Branch
Amboi Okoye

ILB
Patrick Willis

CB
Leon Hall
Darrelle Revis
Chris Houston

S
Laron Landry

that's 17 guys. Marshawn Lynch I could honestly see drop to the Jets at 25 just because RBs always seem to drop in the draft. Reggie Nelson is a Jr. and he didn't run an impressive 40 time (4.53) as opposed to Landry's 4.35. I think that 40 time could drop him 10-15 spots which means he could be there at 24.

The CBs I think can vary because different teams have different tastes depending on their scheme.

BOTTOMLINE THOUGHTS:

I think in the mind of the scouts at WR, there's Calvin Johnson and everyone else. There will probably be a lot of WR projects in the bottom half of the 1st round. I think the same thing applies to safety. Laron Landry is no doubt the consensus 1st safety off the board. The other 3, Nelson, Merriweather, and Griffen will be late 1st/early 2nd picks. Same with TE, there's Olson, and everyone else. I expect that to drive Olson's stock up.

Willis with the time he ran will be long gone before 24. I also believe Olson will go pretty high his time. Those 2 really drove their stock up.

Good list, for bonus points list the players at each position that grade as round 1-2 prospects that will be available for the Pats. And for extra marks comment on which players you like.

At first I thought the same thing with Nelson but then I looked at Reed's combine numbers from 2002. 4.53 is not a terrible time, I expect him to be taken by Dallas at pick 22.

Reed, Ed Miami 5-11 201 4.57
Round 1, Pick 24, Overall Pick 24 by Ravens

agreed - if not Denver at 21

I think the guys at Patriots.com LOVE Reggie Nelson and think/thought, prior to the Combine, that he'd go long before the Pats picked - but indicated he'd be a steal at #24. So maybe his 40 time might help us land him.

Reggie Nelson was top 5 on my Pats board (pre-Combine). I didn't expect him to drop out of the top 20, so I've been focusing on others. But now, if he slides...I'm confident BB would consider him along with maybe two others.

You only have one WR gone at 24? Meachem and Ginn will be gone. Maybe, a 4th like Jarrett or Bowe. I think GB has to look at rb. I have Lynch going to them. I have Nelson gone. Jax needs a S. Darius aging and not much else.
I think someone bites on J.Moss potential at de. And, one of the olb's like Timmons to NYG.

My other 6
Ginn
Meachem
Nelson
Lynch
Moss
Timmons

Leaves us to choose from Meriweather,Ross,Poz,A.Spencer on D.
Maybe, but I doubt it. Bowe or Jarrett. My pick is A.Spencer. Pass-rushers are difficult to find. Need someone to sick on Manning and P.Rivers.

He just listed the seventeen players he felt would surely be gone by 24. I'm sure he believes other WRs will be gone, but it's hard to predict which ones, since each club will rank them differently.
