Do you want to start a thread but are too nervous? Do you think that other posters will laugh at you for your poor English, inadequate football knowledge or the fact that you only have a dozen posts?

Don't worry -- help is at hand! And it is COMPLETELY FREE!

Just use the Do-It-Yourself thread starter kit below. With just a minimum of information (easily obtained while you waste your life browsing Profootballtalk or listening to sports radio) you can start threads that will keep your fellow Patsfans in business from now until the end of training camp.

All you need to do is to copy and paste the template below and fill it in with the name of any player mentioned on Profootballtalk or sports radio as possibly about to part company with his present team. Then just delete as necessary. Easy! (Try to remember to spell the player's name right, but near misses are also acceptable.)

"Should we sign [player's name]?

I've heard that the [insert name of team, preferably that to which the player mentioned is currently under contract] are [about to cut/looking to trade] him.

I know that he [can't make the starting line-up of a 4-12 team/has been arrested twice in six months/has publicly called Bill Belichick a cold-hearted slavedriver/only has one leg/wants $10 million a year/will cost two first-round picks] but the Patriots have shown in the past [that they can take back-ups and make them into top players, like Mike Vrabel/ that they don't get upset if a talented player badmouths the organization, like Ty Law/that they will pay top dollar for the right player, like Rosevelt Colvin/that they will sign players with a bad reputation, like Corey Dillon/that they will take players with an injury history, like Rodney Harrison] and I think he could really help us out [at ... insert name of player's position, if known].

What do you think?"

One word of warning. You need to do this quickly. If you leave it for even a few hours, you can be sure that someone else will have posted the same thread.

OK, but what do you think about Adalius Thomas?

Comment: Very Funny.

Question: Why didn't you mention Chad Jackson? Have you heard a rumo(u)r that he wants to be traded? Or was he with Pacman in Vegas? Or is he dating Giselle? Come on, tell us!

To make it fair, should there be a system put into place for starting these threads? Should #'s be assigned to posters, like at a deli. then if a player is rumored to be cut from any source, then they can start a "should we sign -----" thread.

If they don't start the thread within 1/2 hour of the rumor being made, then the person with the next # can start the thread.

A separte thread would have to be started to assign the #'s.:rocker:

I was thinking about a thread of threads, but a thread-starter thread -- yes, just brilliant!

Can IAN just adjust the thread evaluation tool to allow NEGATIVE ratings.

(hmmm Stars are for a good rating; how about down-thumbs or a fruit [raspberrys] for the negative ratings]

Then associate the thread evaluation with the thread originator. Average all his threads together for an overall evaluation.

If you initiate lots bad threads you are a triple raspberry poster; and we can all then SHUN you. :D

(Ian, please note this was made in jest as I think this would involve way too much work on your part. Not to mention that I would probably end up as having more than the average raspberries anyway. )

All the thoughts above are very good but there is also one big "Don't" Post.Never,I repeat never use the phrase,"I played Football in High School so I know." This phrase will always "DOOM" your post.

Maybe it can be handled like the "dirty words". It might look like this:

* ****** ******** ** **** ******, so I know.

:enranged: Accursed internet bully. I'll bet you never played high school football!

Bump for own nefarious purposes.
