Bills Re-Sign Kelsay With Free Agency Looming

He must have been paid very heavily for him to stay because he was probably going to make a killing in Free Agency.

Curses. :enranged:

Wow, they overpaid him.

6 Years/$24M with $13M guaranteed? He is an OK player, but nothing special. That is way too much guaranteed money.

This could be a harbinger of things to come this off-season. If other teams follow suit, we are going to see a lot of ridiculously big contracts being signed. Makes sense, with so many teams having a good deal of free cap money.

The Bills had to retain at least one free agent, especially with the imminent departure of Nate Clements and London Fletcher (and screw the Baker hyphen by the way).

i think it means they continue to focus on defense in the draft and take either willis or okoye, whichever is available at 12th spot. if its okoye, then they have a good DT rotation w/ okoye, triplett and mccargo (promising rookie season cut short w/ broken foot) and a good DE rotation with schoebel, denny and kelsay. that gets them the front four performance needed to make the cover-2 work. if they don't get okoye and take willis to replace the departing fletcher at MLB instead they figure his speed will make up for a less than perfect DT combination. with whitner at SS that could make their front 8 very formidable. with near-certain loss of clements in the secondary they will need A+ performance out of the front 8 because their secondary will be vulnerable.

Actually looks like it's bigger than that.

"While exact terms of the deal were not yet available, league sources said the contract averages about $5.75 million a year, and includes roughly $14 million in guaranteed money."

Prices are going way up when an average player is getting $5.75M a year.
