Drew Bledsoe HOF

I know this is probably the minority opinion but I think he will get in someday. I really do. His numbers are comparable with many of his peers in the era that are already in the HOF. As we all know he helped turn a franchise around from a laughingstock to respectability.

He doesn't have the playoff resume that Brady has but he still rescued the Pats in the 2001 AFC Championship game when Tom got hurt. Also might have a SB ring as a starter had his coach's mind not been elsewhere (and I will never forgive Parcells for that fiasco leading up to the game and leading to his exit)

Bledsoe isn't a first ballot HOFer but he will get in IMO.

Love what Bledsoe did for us and glad he's in the Patriot hall of fame but, there's noway he makes the pro football hall of fame. Got replaced by another quarterback 3 times(JP Losman? ) and was only selected to 4 pro bowls. Good Qb not a great one.

I think he got screwed by the Bills on his way out. He helped the Bills go 9-7 and had their defense played better against Tommy Maddox and the Steelers B team on the last game of the season they would have made the playoffs. I doubt the Bills go to Losman again had they been given a mulligan on that decision.

Yes he threw those INTs and I think it's fair to blame at least some of that on the asinine decision from the coach to take the double team off Reggie White and put Max Lane against him 1 on 1. Drew didn't have a chance.

I'm guilty of scanning and commenting again but those stats against the others in the HOF are against many from other eras and skews the numbers - and his numbers are still not that impressive. A lot of it is simply because he passed so much more than the others.

No matter what some fans (and writers) think, Bledsoe was never great.

I am a Bledsoe fan and never hated the guy like many Pats fans did, but there is little chance he will get into the Hall. He just wasn't good enough. He had a few years where he was arguably one of the best QBs in football, but not for a long enough stretch.

When you think of the best QBs of the 90s and he might be what 10th on your list and that may be too high. And he wouldn't even be that high if the late 90s were devoid of many really good QBs. The Hall is reserved for the elite of a player's generation. Not a guy who was just very good.

It was a forty yard drive, Huard probably could have done that. Bishop was cut in preseason. Bledsoe was 10-21 for 102 yards and that one TD in that game. Career playoffs he was less than 52% completion with twice as many INTs to TDs.

I believe he deserves to be in. Not everyone in the Hall is John Elway or Joe Montana or (Tom Brady.)

I believe he won't make it simply because of how Tom Brady came in and won the job.

Is it fair that the GOAT taking your spot keeps you out of the Hall? No, but it's how he's going to be remembered despite his greatness on the field.

I, for one, think that sucks. I also think had there been no Brady and if he hadn't come back from the injury, half the naysayers here would be screaming for him to go in. But since we know Brady is Hall-bound, we don't worry as much about getting another QB rep in as much.

I've accepted already that he won't get in. But he's in there in my heart and that's all that matters to me as a fan. (Guess what? Ray Lewis and OJ don't go in my version either. LOL)

If you put Bledsoe in simply based on those compared stats to the other guys, then Kerry Collins has to be considered as well, and guys like Phillip Rivers and Tony Romo will be locks in 4 years. If Romo and Rivers are locks, then at least 10-15 active QBs right now will be in the HOF one day. Is that really what we want?

Turning that team around and leading them to a Superbowl they had a shot in even though their head coach and star RB were planning to defect are both noteworthy accomplishment that put him well above a Romo or Rivers in my mind. (Rivers could still get there, I'm not willing to call his career done yet. But remember he replaced Brees who went on to do great things, so he's like a reverse Brady and less deserving than Bledsoe easily. Romo we can stick a fork in.) Collins career isn't comparable either I don't think... Bob Kraft was the biggest reason this team ever turned around. But Bledsoe doesn't get near enough cred in that dept.

It's not just numbers, though that's certainly a part of it.

I am a huge supporter for what he meant to the Pats, for his role in losing the 'Patsies' moniker, but he belongs in the hall of very good, not the Hall of Fame. If he belongs in the Hall of Fame, then so does Vinny Testaverde. Their numbers are comparable.

I was thrilled to see Bledsoe throw that TD against the Steelers, after all he did for the team. But it did not take long to see why he did not stay on the team once Brady returned. This video summed up his time with the Pats, and is all about that Steelers playoff game. If the OP forgot about the rest of that game, then a refresher is in order. It was Bledsoe's career in a nutshell. Good, just not good enough.

I agree that Drew doesn't have the numbers to get in the hall.
As far as his playoff performances...well he was doing ok until that second half but he was really abysmal at times against Pittsburgh... yeah he finished that drive Tom started that got the Pats ahead(IIR)but I still shudder when I think of that pass...no...hook shot...without even looking...flipped the ball right over his shoulder trying to avoid a sack..just terrible.
But ya know what? I think he gets in the HoF despite all that. It won't be first ballot you can be sure of that but I think he will ride Tom's coattails right in to that prestigious club. Because Tom is not only a HoF first ballot lock but may very well leave the the game leaving no doubt who the GOAT is, if he hasn't already proven it.
Drew is the unfortunate one to fall to injury thereby giving young TB an opportunity to shine. This gives him Wally Pip status and although Pip is not in MLB HoF, who the Hell is Lou Gehrig anyways, we're talking TFB man!

Drew was tall and he had a strong arm but he had the worst pocket presence of any legit starting QB in my memory.

It was a hell of a ride in the beginning of his career considering where the Pats had come from, but the game changed and his ability to be effective dissipated quickly.

Bottom line is he belongs in the Pats HOF not the NFL HOF, and honestly, I don't think he really cares all that much.

No chance! Not even close. His career after New England defined mediocrity. I give him credit for helping turn this franchise around but that gets him in the Pats HoF, not the NFL's Hall of Fame. He did set a SB record with his 4 Ints in SB XXXI so maybe he'll have his picture someplace in the Hall for that. I think he may still hold the record for completions/attempts in a game ('94 vs Min) so he also has that.

There are a lot of QB's on the outside looking in who have a better chance than Bledsoe. I'd say Phil Simms has a chance some day. Then again, they let Warren Moon in so maybe everyone has a chance.

Let Warren Moon in? IMO he was one of the purest passers the NFL has ever seen. If he didn't spend 6 years in the CFL because the NFL wasn't ready for a Black QB then his #s would of been even better.
