Jason Wolfe out at WEEI

I am not a fan of toucher and rich, but they are a much better alternative to the D&C that I was forced to listen to for a decade prior to the formation of the sports hub.

Once 98.5 came around, it was like a breath of fresh air. Finally, I was free of the wretched, sarcastically sad old guys. After that, it was only a matter of time before I stopped tuning into EEI permanently.

I liked Dennis and Calahan, before they had to stop talking politics. Now that they talk sports I don't care for them. Merloni is ok Mutt sucks!!! Holley, is ok, Salk really is a condesending twat. I used to like Arnold, but now he seems like a pompous arse.

And, I live in Maine so I am pretty much stuck listening to WEEI.

Listen to 98.5 online.

WEEI is about the Bankofamericasox first and foremost. I gave up on that station a few years ago. I do wish they'd offer a viable alternative to Felger/Miserablotti, but Salk was a mistake.

I am not sure if they could get him to do it but I would love to see them pair Holley with Curran. Salk is awful.

Holley and Arnold was a good team that should've remained intact. I'm glad Ordway is gone but Salk is worse in different ways.

Curran is the best. He is the only local personality that I find extremely interesting, without being a douche bag antagonist (like Felger, Mazz, etc.)

I really like Curran but I also think Holley is really good. he's intelligent, knows what he is talking about, has a good sense of humor, and doesn't take himself too seriously.

He shouldn't have broken up Dale & Holley. He shouldn't have destroyed The Big Show and then fired Ordway, and the signing of Salk was an abomination. I've gone from having WEEI on all day, 10-6, and listening to 98.5 during commercials, to not listening to sports radio, at all, unless I'm on the internet listening to WFAN (maybe once a month).

Thanks for letting me catch up on my music listening, though, Mr. Wolfe.

Not a big fan of arnold but i do think he is a good hockey guy. I think most people were kind of burned out on Ordway but i would take him back over Salk any day of the week. Salk is one of the weakest radio guys i have heard.

Overall I think Wolfe has done a terrible job and imo they should replace pretty much everyone other than Holley. their morning show sucks, their midday show sucks, Salk sucks, and so does Mike Adams. Holley and Curran would be a good afternoon show and then they should clean the slate and start over.

Maybe they will get someone with a little imagination. Wolfe was always horrible even when WEEI was good. When Ordway gave up the Program Director role to Wolfe, that was the point WEEI jumped the shark. I think Ordway got old, fat, and lazy, but he was once the best innovator of sports talk radio. Wolfe was just a suit IMHO.

Hopefully, with Wolfe's departure, he will take WEEI's format of beating the low hanging fruit stories to death ESPECIALLY non-sport, sports stories like Sandusky, Tiger's women, Aaron Hernandez's off the field activities and legal woes, steriods in baseball, etc.with him. 98.5 addresses some of these subjects, but Wolfe had the entire station beat these issues to death for days and even weeks at a time.

Aside from Toucher, Rich and Holley most of talk radio is insufferable... Merloni and Mutt are insufferable, who make believe they are Bruins/Pats fans.. D&C just suck, Gresch and Zo are ok, but the know it all bombasity of the big guy often make it a channel changer, Salk, Felger and Maz are all terrible...

I would love to have sports radio sans drama...

I like Holley as well, but I don't find him very interesting.

I am with the rest of you guys. I did not care for the Big Show at the end, but Salk is worse. I love Holley, and Holley and Curran would be outstanding, if they could not beat the corporate drums and give us Red Sox 24/7 when the other teams in town are relevant. Nothing worse to me than Red sox talk when the Bruins are in the playoffs. Awful, and I am a casual hockey fan at best. Never mind when the Pats start.

WEEI ran me off to Gresh and Zo long ago, and I go back to Dale and Eddie. I'd love to listen to someone besides the insufferable Mazzerable. I am wise to Felger's shtick, and if I take him with a grain of salt, I can tolerate his shenanigans. Occasionally, his "I hate everything" rants make me turn the online stream off. It would be beyond great to have a viable alternative.

Ordway is a gasbag who should have been canned years ago. The morning guys are arrogant douches, which is quite remarkable considering how little they actually understand their subject matter.

Mut might be the worst, though, for reasons that were on full display this morning. He asked Merloni a question about whether NE should acquire a better backup, with his phrasing and tone clearly indicating that he was thinking, "yes." When Lou railed against that idea, illustrating that no good QB has a great backup, and in fact, NE might be in one of the better backup situations, Mut spins on a dime and preaches as if that was what he though all along. He must do something similar 2-3 times a show, and I can't see how Lou could have any respect for him at this point.

WFAN in the early morning since the Jets training camp began is great. The hosts over there try to steer the talk to the Yankees or the Mets or the NY Giants or whatever, and all they get are guys going off on Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez. Twice yesterday, the host told the callers not to call in and tell the screener they were calling about the Yankees and then go off on the Jets. It's like they're writing my "Jets Suck" thread post every morning.

Jason Wolfe at 'EEI taking it in the neck seems like the wrong guy got axed. This guy Brown seems like a disconnected owner's stooge. Calling listeners "uniques" is just downright insulting.

Meanwhile they are saying that a guy named Kevin Graham from Salt Lake City is going to replace Jason Wolfe. WEEI ? Boston Sports Media Watch

Great move. Salt Lake doesn't have an NFL, NHL nor an MLB team. What is he going to bring to the table?

Gerry Callahan will eat this new guy for lunch.

And Kevin Graham is a life long Jets fan. Check out his twitter feed. He has loads of hate for Brady and the Pats. I'm not saying you have to be a fan of the market you work in but this guy seems like a real tool.

Sports talk radio is never going to be as relevant as it was during its 90s heyday. Now with twitter, facebook, reddit and other news aggregates you don't have to endure 20 180054GIANT commercials an hour to get your poorly-formed kneejerk opinions from ignorant blowhards.

Ultimately it doesn't matter, if they bring in another round of fat 50 somethings to blather on about every bit of Red Sox minutia they'll continue dying their slow death.

I have no use for Jason Wolfe. I have e-mailed him with concerns, questions, etc several times. Each time he was very standoffish, even when I was just looking for information. He always relied back on "the ratings". Good riddance.

Brilliant move by WEEI. Just the guy you want programming Bill Belichick's Monday afternoon post-game interview show.

He'll probably have ol' lobster-face Steve DeOssie paired with Ron Borges to do those interviews. You'll have to dodge all the radios being thrown out of cars on the Mass Pike and 128 on the way home!
