After running a 4.37 or so in his second attempt, Smith has to be on our radar. Even with Jarrett on his team, Smith was the go to receiver we are looking for. He would essentially be a younger, faster Troy Brown for the Pats. I liked Smith as a mid-round punt because I was concerned with his ability to seperate from DBs; however, it looks like that will not be too much of an issue. Honestly, I was expecting a 4.55 to 4.59...the fact that he ran so well only makes me want him to be a Patriot more and more.

Yes it sounds like Steve Smith had a good combine and may be the first Trojan receiver to go in this draft.

ahead of dwayne jarrett?

Do you think this guy drops to the 2nd round? looks like alot of guys improved their stock which helps the pats. jason hill too.

how many wr's will go in the first round?

and are dwayne jarrett and dwayne bowe gonna slip behind smith and hill?

This is a superb year for us to get a WR in the 2nd or 3rd round. So many possible first rounders then Hill, Smith, Gonzalez, Hooker, Stuckey, etc.

Mark me down for defense and defense in the first round then our favorite WR in round two - heck, we might even be able to wait until round three for one of these guys.

lol no way Smith goes before Jarrett..DJ is top 15 if he runs "decent"...if he runs good he can easily be top 10.

Smith wont be taken till late 2-early 3 imo.

heres how i see WRs being taken

1. CJ
2. DJ
3. Meachem
4. Ginn
5. Bowe
6. Jason Hill
7 Sidney Rice
8. Steve Smith

I hope other teams have ranking similar to the above. If you ranked career production it would certainly be different. If thinking like the above allows SMith to slip into late round 2 or round 3 maybe we can snatch him up.

Sad thing is, I see a landslide of WR's being taken off the board in early in round 2. It's quite possible all 8 of those guys will be off the board before our pick.
