Remember a while back when a kid out of USC named Keyshawn Johnson was getting the same kind of raves Calvin Johnson is getting now and going as a very high 1st round pick like KJ did?.

If he has anywhere near the career Keyshawn has had then he should be very good.

Then again we have another good Johnson player in Chad Johnson.

How many Johnson WRs sucked?-Apparently not many I can name....If you got that last name you are bound to be a good receiver I guess

By the way for a tribute I want to mention another Johnson in another league named 'Dennis Johnson',as Celtics fans all around the world we loved ya and could not have won like we did without your presence,RIP our beloved Celtic:(

BTW: Magic Johnson sucked and Randy Johnson too ;)

Don't forget Andre Johnson.

By the way, no wide receiver in NFL history has been as tall as Calvin, weighed at least 240 pounds, and ran a 4.33. He jumps 43" high and has a great attitude.

This kid is clearly, by far and away, the best player in the NFL draft. Joe Thomas is probably next, and Jamarcus Russell is a physical freak as well. But so is Daunte Culpepper.

Don't forget he runs great routes, has great hands, knows exactly where he is on the field at all times, and also has great strength.

Didn't we say the same stuff about Chad Jackson last year right after the draft pick was made on him? ;)

How bout Bethel Johnson hes bound to be good right

No, we actually didn't. I remember everyone here saying he was raw and that he only learned to run routes in the latter part of his career under Meyer. Under Zook he was in pure throw it long mode.

There's a reason why Jackson went in the 2nd round and Johnson is looked at as the best player in the draft. Even looking at the measurables, the two players don't compare. One is taller, faster, stronger, bigger muscles, jumps higher, etc. It's like comparing Ellis Hobbs to Champ Bailey.

Yeah, Bethel Johnson was a real star.

Very very true. Hope he has a better 1st year.:singing:

To be honest my expectations for Keyshawn Johnson were pretty high and he fell way short imo of a great career. In many ways his career is shadowed in his book and some of his emotional interviews. There are many receivers imo who have been drafted after him who had the same impact or greater.

Again my expectations of this Calvin Johnson are pretty high. When I mean high, I mean he better be a top 10 WR within 5 years or he was an absolute waste of a pick that high.

I almost always advocate against taking a WR in the top 10. History shows the majority of them are dissapointments or worse. In recent memory, what top 10 WRs have lived up to their billing? Larry Fitzgerald is the only one I would consider a top 10 at the position. Andre Johnson and Roy Williams have both been very good but much better players have emerged out of their drafts.

Johnson is an exception, he is perhaps the best physical mold of a WR I have ever seen. He should be a top 2 pick.

calvin johnson is going to be a star

JJ Stokes was going to be a star. Mike Williams was going to be a star. Charles Rodgers was going to be a star. Now while I am not declaring that Johnson will not be a star, I am not willing to proclaim him a star. . . .just food for thought.

Andre Johnson also has to play with Davd Carr. Really hard to tell what he's capable of.

Who has the best physical mold in the league right now? R Moss?

And for those trying to list big time busts at Wide Out, don't forget Peter Warrick; his teamate at the same position at FSU ended up being a much better player 60 or so picks later.

Johnson will probably be taken by Matt Millen and the Lions and you all know how that'll turn out -:) He 'should' be a top WR. Saying he will be a top WR, well, there's been a lot of those that weren't.
