What is going to be harder to have to watch this next season?....

Wes Welker in a Broncos uniform? or Garnett and Pierce in a Nets uniform?

Just curious (the offseason is almost over, these threads will stop :))....

Wes Welker

I had been preparing myself for the departure of Pierce and Garnett.
You could see the decline in both players more so in Pierce especially
towards the end of the season.

The fact Cs got so much for these players was amazing and puts
them in a great position to get better fast.
I am also encouraged with some of the younger players that will be able
to run with Rondo. I'm glad they are both together on a potential playoff team.

Wes I didn't see too much decline but with good D's he did struggle to
get open. He may show a bigger decline this year. I just don't like
him with any team that has PM as the QB. :(

I'm such a big basketball fan, my first thought when I heard those guys had been traded to the Brooklyn Nets was ..."the NBA has a team in Brooklyn?"

But I am a big enough Celtics fan to know it's a big end-of-an-era move. But as the poster above mentions, seems like a move they had to make. BB-esque.

Don't fall in love with the veterans.....

Not so much Garnett because he wasn't here as long, but Pierce to Celtics fans over the past decade was in comparison to Brady with the Pats..both will go down as legendary Boston athletes and although Pierce does not have the accolades Tom has,nor the trophies...he,like Brady will go down as a top 5 greatest player in his sport as a Boston athlete.

For those who say it was time for Pierce to go because of age, will you also feel the same when Brady shows what will likely be considerable dwindling talents at 40?

WWW for sure. I feel like we've been minimizing the potential impact of his loss.

I'm sorry to see KG and Pierce go, especially Pierce who I hoped would retire a Celtic. But the C's had to blow things up and I'll be rooting hard for the old guys except when they play Boston.

Due to the NBA's pathetic excuse for a draft it actually hurts you to be a middling team in the NBA and rewards you for being all out crappy. Seeing PP and KG go sucks but it's the only way for the Celtics to get back to prominence in 2-4 years.

Unfortunately for the Celtics it seems about 10 other NBA teams this year are intent on tanking as well. Should be a hilarious NBA season.

Seeing the Truth in another uniform will suck. But for all of these guys, I believed their time was done with their respective teams at the end of each season so none were a surprise.

Pierce and KG in Brooklyn uniforms for sure. Especially Pierce. Loved what Wes did with the patriots but he didn't win a championship and Pierce has been with the Celtics for like 16 years. I liked the move because it was time but still going to make me puke seeing them face the celtics.

For me - it is definitely Pierce and Garnett. With that said - Ainge did a great job getting what they got for Pierce, Garnett and Terry.

Hopefully - they get some bonafide studs with the Nets draft picks and with the salary cap space that is cleared that they are reloaded in a couple of years.

Plus - I think that their new coaching hire is going to be long-term (remember when Spoelstra was hired by the Heat). I won't be surprised when Gordan Heyward is signed by the Celtics in a year or two either.

its gotta be pierce/garnet over welker imo.

Pierce was drafted by the celtics and spent his entire career up until this point with the Green. Through thick and thin he stuck around, and eventually brought us another title. he was the cornerstone of the team for so long its going to be hard to see him go out wearing another jersey

Welker on the other hand was brought in, never won a title, and then left for less overall money. Welker was bit of a drama queen on the way out, and when we needed him most he dropped the ball. literally.

Welker is just another guy, where as pierce will go down in boston sports history with the likes of brady, bird, and hopefully some of these younger sox players like pedroia.

Pierce by far. I wanted to see him retire as a Celtics and only play for the C's much like say Bruschi only played for the Patriots in his NFL career. But such as life is I can understand why he (and KG) got traded. This won't be the prettiest season for the Celtics as it's a rebuilding year but I'm excited to see the new talent grow into being the future of the team.

The only thing that hurt about losing Welker since honestly I felt like he was leaving was the team he went to. Had he gone to a team like say the Arizona Cardinals or Minnesota Vikings I feel then it wouldn't of felt like such a blow compared to him now with Denver (and Seyton).

Hmm... Cassel/Welker reunion could of happened on the Vikings? Imagine that with "All Day All Night" AP....

I have no problem with Garnett and Pierce in a Nets uniform because I know that was the right thing for the Celtics to do. Ainge was not going to repeat the mistakes of the late 80's and keep the Big-3 for far too long, setting up the abysmal 90's.

Welker in a Bronco's uniform... there's a bit of anger there too as he essentially chose to leave.

Pierce and Garnett left in a win win situation - giving them a shot at playing together, not far from here to contend and help get the Celtics rebuilding a nice jump start.

No one in Boston will ever show them the least animosity - Ainge and all fans are hoping to get a high draft pick this year too, so any loss for the Celtics this season is a win.

Can I wait to answer this question until a January playoff game when the Broncos have a 3rd and 6 in the final minute at midfield with the Patriots clinging onto a 2 point lead? I may vomit watching #83 work the slot on that play.

I will miss Pierce and Garnett - but they got their Championship for us. WWW left a little too soon, and has more left in the tank.

Oh, and lastly…at least the Celtics received a king's ransom for losing KG and Paul. All the Pats got was a mix tape Welker made for Tom the night before he bolted Boston.

I'm neither a Patriots fan OR a Celtics fan, but Wes Welker has been one of my favorite players in the NFL for a long time. That's the truth...even going back to the days when he was a Dolphin.

I like that guy, so now it makes it easier for me to root for him since he's out of the division.

Peyton Manning is going to love his ass.

Pierce and Garnett for sure...But anyone that thinks Pierce is in the same breathe as Brady or Bird are insane. All time great Celtic? Yes, but Brady, Bird, Russell, Orr, and Williams are the elite of the elite.

The NBA has all the legitimacy of pro wrestling.
Hard to believe people actually pay money to sit and watch that.

Welker was only a Patriot for about 6 years, Pierce has been here forever. That is an easy decision to make. Would much prefer to see Pierce stay than Welker.

Peyton Manning is going to love his ass.

O.K.,that's all and good but will Peyton end up successful in throwing to him and having him in his offense?

I don't care what they do in the locker room shower
