I was just wondering if there was going to be another patsfans.com league this year? I played last year and was hoping to again this year. ??? I suggest a live draft this time around.

Played last season and I want to play this year too..

And improve my 5th place.

Maybe we should have two leagues this year.

One with a live draft and advanced scoring (e.g., 2 QB; IDP; etc.)

One with more basic, standard scoring.

People can be in one, the other or both as they see fit.

As long as you don't mind the new guy coming in and winning your championship... :D

nfl.com or yahoo?

nfl.com or yahoo?

I don't know yet, I'd like to give them and a few others a look in regards to what they offer, how much they let us customize scoring, draft, roster size, schedule, etc.

Last year I recall times being frustrated with nfl.com because their videos were constantly auto-starting to the point it slowed things down, and pop-ups promoting other nfl.com services or stories were way too frequent.

I also recall yahoo having an "article" each week on all of the previous week's games, with each teams players that scored a lot of points (or not many) as well as comments about guys who got left on the bench - sort of a mimic of the reporting of an actual football game; I thought that was pretty cool.

ESPN?
Their's great!

I'm down!

Other team forums have organized leagues with divisions and so on. Should be in the interest of the site to set it up.

Here is a look at some of the sites that offer free FF leagues:

FOX Sports Fantasy Football - Features

Free Fantasy Football--Sign Up to Enter Our $10,000 Giveaway - CBSSports.com

Play ESPN Fantasy Football - Free Fantasy Football - ESPN

Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football | Free Fantasy Football for 2013 Season - NFL.com

Free Fantasy Football Leagues - Fleaflicker

It has been so long since I was on Fox that I will have to set up a new account name to take a closer look at what they offer. Like I said previously, I didn't particularly care for nfl.com. I used CBS for many years in the past in a premium league with co-workers and really like what they had, I'll try to set aside some time to see what their free league looks like to compare with espn's and yahoo's.

please send an invite this way if possible, i will play on any site.

I went over to CBS Sports and got frustrated with it, so I'm crossing them off the list. I signed in, went to go to make a league (to see what my options were), and it asked me to sign in again... lather, rinse, repeat ad infinitum.

Anyways, I made one ten-team league with some advanced scoring settings and will make another with more traditional settings later on. PM me and I'll send you the link and league name & password.

as much as I hate espn. I think there fantasy leagues are the best. please send invite. I will do much better if I can draft my players instead of last years format.

Draft will be held online on August 30 at 8:00 pm ET. If you can't be there then (or even if you can) you can customize your draft rankings. There will be a 2-minute time limit for each selection.

Bro, whats up with all the tweaked rules? I know e got our own way of doing things as Pats fans, but isn't this pushing it? ;)

Where can you mockdraft with these settings, what implications does it have etc? Why not keep "the wheel" as it is (instead of reinventing it)?

I'm down for expanded leagues (2 QBs, 3WRs/RBs etc.) but to change the scoring, not so sure.

I agree keep it simple.

Basically it's just more based on yardage, less on touchdowns; that sets up a situation where luck is less likely going to determine a FF game (some obscure TE scoring a TD, for example). The QB (completions vs incompletions) create a scoring system where a good NFL QB is more likely to be a good FF QB.

If you want to do a mock there are plenty of sites that let you input your league's specific scoring systems.

This is similar to a scoring system that I have been doing with co-workers for many, many years, and it had been very successful and popular; several other groups of co-workers have created leagues with similar rules.

Before you knock it, why don't you try it? Just because things have always been done one way, that doesn't mean they can't be improved (from the horse and buggy to telephones).

As I said previously, I will also set up a traditional league. If this is just too much to handle then join the next one and don't join this one. Depending on how many people want to play we can keep setting up leagues to equal the demand.

This is for the advanced scoring league listed above

Draft will be held online on Saturday August 31 at 4:00 pm ET. If you can't make it then you can adjust your draft ranking of players; if you don't do so and you are not there then your choices revert to the site's draft rankings. There will be a 90-second time limit for each draft pick.

I'd like to hop on if it's an ESPN league. They have the best system imo. Really easy to use.

Last season I scored the second most points in my league and had a sub .500 record. Everyone's teams went completely ballistic when they played me. :bricks:

Hoping for better results this year.

Like your comments, seem fair and reasonable. And I agree, I always want to minimize the luck factor as much as possible.
One thing that I always advocate is to drop the kickers completely.

My only concern was that I am afraid this will effect the draft strategy and I have to study another system in depth in order to maximize my chances to win (I always go all in). But I'll be happy to try it out!

Which site do you use for the league? I'm doing nfl.com and espn, if it's one of them, I'm all in. :rocker:

I wanted to try something different so I went with FoxSports.com

Just takes a few seconds to register an account there.

I thought I saw that espn was changing things so you had to have a facebbok account to login, so I figured I would try something else. Last year I didn't care for nfl.com with pop ups and videos constantly auto-starting, so again I wanted to try something different to compare and see how it went.

I'm all in :rocker:

Not better to change to ESPN? Several guys seem to prefer it (me included). So far we're only two in the league, so pretty smooth to transfer.

I'm in, but I like yahoo, or ESPN for FF. But I'm to try anything.
