Congrats, by the way. Apparently Mike is getting a promotion at ESPN, if I read that right.

Today's Reiss column...

12. And finally, our ESPNBoston.com Patriots coverage team will have its depth thinned this year as Mike Rodak is on to bigger and better things. Details of his new opportunity will be officially announced when all the I's are dotted and T's are crossed, and I'm happy that he'll still be in the family. Mike's contributions to our Patriots coverage have been invaluable and I'd like to tell you a quick story as to how it all unfolded. It was right around this time on the calendar in 2010, and we were mapping out training camp coverage on ESPNBoston.com (our first camp, but second season covering the team). Plans came together late for the possibility of bringing on a "student assistant" and I had met Mike online through the Patsfans.com website. He had insightful posts on the site and also tipped me off, via email, to help me break some stories. We met briefly before camp that year and the decision was made -- thanks to our editors Peter Lawrence-Riddell and David Lefort -- to bring him aboard in a role that would develop based on how much he could handle. It turned out to be a lot, especially for someone who was a sophomore in college. Three years later, this May, Mike graduated from Providence College and his strong work and hustle to chase the story was recognized for a position that many would covet even after working in his field for decades. Mike made ESPNBoston.com's Patriots coverage better and he'll do the same in his new job, which I've compared to him moving from coordinator to head coach. He has his own show to run, and I wish him all the best.

Well? Enquiring minds want to know...

I'm aware of who Rodak was/is on here - but unfortunately I promised to keep it a secret so I can't tell you

NEM is that you???.. might be dating myself.

there's about twenty regular posters here I'd much rather read or listen to in the media than 90% of the dreck that's out there now.

Let me be the first to congratulate Deus in his new assignment!

I'm betting against it being the member named 'I've killed People'

Another part of that comment would be that Reiss is/was a regular reader here. At least enough so to be impressed with Rodak.

My money is on JMT

ok…ok..stop with the PM's.
I know my awesome posts may lead one to think that I am Mr. Rodak or Mr. Reiss himself…but sadly, the PittPatriot cannot take credit for this.

I kid. No one PM'd me on this subject.

Absolutely agree with this.

Despite some of the epic meltdowns here after Pats losses, this is still my favorite online community. Mostly respectful posts and debates, and the comments are almost always reasonable.

Glad to see one of our own making it in the pros, as it were. :D

My guess, its one of:

JMT57
Mayoclinic
Deus Irae
Mgteich

Reveal yourself! :D

Musta been his meat packing plant link that sealed the deal. Most hilarious example of research overkill I'd ever seen.
As you recall, last fall, The Chiefs had an incident of a player going postal. Over here on Patsfans, a fan with an inquiring mind wondered whether The Chiefs would implement a "business as usual" approach in the wake of the tragedy. They had a home game to host the next day at Arrowhead.

Enter Deus.

He takes it upon himself to say - 'Well, when a similar event happened at a (wait for it because it's a duzy....) meat packing pant in California, this is what they did. Deus then actually posts a LINK to the story.
I've been on the floor for almost an entire year over Deus' meat packing plant link.
Think about it for a minute. The sociological angle is raucously hilarious. Deus thought what goes on at a meat packing plant office (probably housed in some corrugated aluminum trailer in the middle of a dirt packing lot) is direly relevant to the public relations of an NFL franchises' front offices housed in a massive glistening stadium.

Deus replied to my post with a "hey, it was relevant, so I posted the link."
Yes, sure it was relevant in an around the way degree. Sure, if you equate some jag meat packing plant guy losing it and how the mustached fellas in their short sleeve button downs dealt with the aftermath in the trailer out in the parking lot...
and Deus equating that with a millionaire world class athlete going off and the reaction of a well-oiled public relations machine of a professional sports franchise.
Man, when you add that context into the equation, Deus link becomes outlandishly rip-roaringly hilarious.

I totally believe he posted that meat packing plant link with a straight face. That's what makes it so damned funny.

To be wholeheatedly honest, Deus's meat packing plant link on a freaking football fansite (of all places) was the funniest thing I'd seen anyone do on the internet in years. That's years.
Here's to you, Deus. I'll now be taking 10 percent of your salary to keep this embarrassing incident under wraps.

All in all, Deus, that was some crack reporting alright. I'll never forget you for it.

If I were to hazard a guess, my money is on member name - Metaphors.
