Well PatsFans, it seems the Gator Nation has rolled into your town.

Regardless of how anyone feels about our Tim, we love 'im and pay attention to his travels, travails, and the circumstances surrounding his exploits.

Living in Keystone Heights, Florida, I effectively live in the shadow of the Swamp so regardless of any propensity I may have towards having a favorite NFL team, the Gators come first.

As a matter of fact, I'm really glad Tim signed with the Patriots because if there is a NFL team worth being a fan of, it is the Pats. Clearly it has been a while since a Florida NFL team was worth the trouble. After all, I must sacrifice a fishing day to watch the games and the Gators already have my Saturdays.

I want to also take this opportunity to thank PatsFans.com's staff. It's a pleasure to read and participate on a message board that isn't corrupt and is operated with a sense of fairness that is palatable. You guys rock. Many would think that would be the norm for message boards but, trust me, it isn't. Following Tim around from team to team makes it blatantly obvious.

Well, that's about all for now except that I look forward to the coming days/weeks/years (I hope) of being a Pats fan and I expect, unlike other teams Tim has played on, my affinity for the Patriots will grow.

Go away you TEBOT! We don't want you here!!! :D

Good to have some fellow Gators/Floridians here.

Hey!!!

I did some major suck up in my OP. That should count for something. :eat3:
What suck up? I appreciate how you explained the mystery of GatorFandom to non-Floridians. Long before the Jags existed, we only had the Fins and the Buccs. After Marino, the Fins were just ..... well, that's before your time anyway. Then there were the Falcons ... meh. But there was a nearby team on TV every Saturday whose games were exciting! EXCITING! Those Gators! In my family the Gator game viewing tradition was passed down from generation to generation. This just isn't an area where you find much other thrilling football.

You explained it much better than I can, but maybe my bit will help. I'd watch the Gators over the Jags any day. Hell, I'd watch the Bulldogs over the Jags with Blaine Gabbert, and that's pitiful. I'm excluding the David Garrard years, because I liked him and felt some hope then. Still, there's no comparison to the Gators, or watching college guys play football without big salaries and with respect for their coaches and consequences for their actions.

Haha, sucking up in regards to liking the Pats and this board...which isn't really a suck up but it could be spun that way by someone as mischievous as me.

Regarding the Gators, it is as you describe too. It's not like we have any choice but to be in the Gator Nation. The up side is that it's better to be a Gator than Gator Bait.

Go Gators! Go Pats!

There is another, older group of "Swamp Patriots":

Urban Dictionary: Swamp Yankee

Haha, whereas there are always similarities WE ALL share with others, my meaning of Swamp in my 'Swamp Patriots' reference could be best understood by calling the Pats' stadium The Gillette Swamp. You see, the Florida Gators' Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is nick named The Swamp and as folks around these parts know, only Gators get out alive.

Btw, thanks for the Yankee referencing English lesson. I'm always open to leaning about our brothers and sisters up North.
