The #Patriots are releasing WR Donald Jones, I'm told. They want to get their young guys reps. He'll go on waivers.

Good sign for Dobson health?

Interesting... my first reaction is that Jenkins showed enough in OTA's that he will be the token veteran in a chaotic sea of youngin's.

Re: The Donald Jones Era ...

There's no "I am dumb" smiley?

Hopefully this says good things about the rookies. Or maybe it's just that Jones sucks.

Re: The Donald Jones Era ...

I'm fine with this, as long as
a) he doesn't have a good year for the Bills, Jets or Fins
b) It means Edelman is on the team

Cutting Donald Jones probably strengthens Michael Jenkins' shot of making the #Patriots since they need a veteran presence at WR

This release says something good about Dobson, Boyce, or Thompkins.

Haven't posted much lately... wow do I need a new signature.

Hopefully this means the others we have are better......

It's actually disappointing; I was really hoping he'd turn out to be a nice little free agent pickup.

I don't see this as an indication of Dobson or Boyce exceeding expectations though, I see it more or an indication of a guy like Aikens, Hawkins and Thompkins being impressive enough to force himself into the mix for the final 53.

It is cuts like this that make me wish the Patriots were a little more patient in keeping Tiquan Underwood as a part of this franchise than the constant signing and releasing practice that they had with him.

Underwood is about to become the #3 for Tampa Bay this year and definitely the backup to VJax.

Or Jenkins... or Harrison... or one of the two they just signed... :D

I don't think its a Jenkins, Dobson or Harrison.

I think the Y and Z receivers like Hawkins, Edelman, Boyce, Aikens and Thompkins is the group that will benefit the most.

I think Brady actually liked Underwood - he made some positive comments about him on a couple occasions, out of the blue even before he was getting snaps over Ocho. And Brady does not hand out compliments lightly, historically.

The Tiquan thing was just a numbers game. We had so many bodies at WR at that point last year. Unfortunately, none of them panned out that well.

Tiquan is the embodiment of Meh. Sure, when you are trotting garbage out there, meh looks pretty damn good. But he isn't someone you pull out all the stops to keep around.

I also wouldn't read too much into how he does at Tampa. Judging by how quickly NE moved on from him last year - particularly when WR was a position of need and was clearly going to be one this offseason as well - it is probable that he wasn't quite getting his head around the system.

Here is a clearer picture of what happened in the Redskins game. I would have stuck with Underwood rather than the older JAGs that year from a developmental perspective.
