patriots - Knight Time: RU coach Kyle Flood discusses reasons behind Patriots-Rutgers connection - WEEI | Christopher Price

Logan Ryan

On Ryan: “Logan is a total package in terms of being a complete player, both on and off the field. In terms of a player comparison to someone who is in the league right now, he’s the closest players I’ve ever seen to Devin McCourty. I had the pleasure of being head coach last year, and watching Logan work over the course of the season, and I know from a skill-set comparison, Logan will do well in coach Belichick’s system. They cover well and are good against the run -- they’re both physical guys. But really, they’re much more than that -- from the moment they hit the field, they always do the right thing.

“I will say that Logan and Devin might be the two best practice and game players I’ve seen come through this program. Guys who just do it every day -- every rep, all the time. They’re two great examples for us as a program to use when it comes to younger players. When you see a guy work as hard as they do, it’s hard not to follow along.”

Duron Harmon

On Harmon, who was considered a reach as a third-rounder: “When it comes to the drafting of Duron, I’ve never been in those rooms where they talk about him being a reach. All I can speak on is his performance with us, and he was a four-year starter for us who was a two-time All-Big East safety. He was as good a person as we’ve had in the system for us in the last nine years. I will say that the Patriots were fortunate to get him where they did.”

Steve Beauharnais

On Beauharnais: “Steve Beauharnais is an elite-level leader. I said to coach Belichick when I had the chance to meet with him was that Steve was the rarest of all leaders. ‘He’s not interested in being popular with his teammates. He’s more interested in doing everything the right way. He will always be to the one who will do it the right way and expect everyone around him to do it the right way as well.”

It's hard to take the opinion of their former college coach with anything but the LARGEST grain of salt, but it's still good to hear. They sound like hard-working guys.

Yup. Obviously we hope their coach is right and they all shine. We start finding out soon.

I posted this elsewhere, but it seems like a good fit here. The kid looks pretty good, though I'd really like to see a fully game of this and not just isolated plays.

Beauharnais >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tarpinian, Koutovides, Rivera.

I agree, but I won't be completely convinced until I hear from all their mom's on their value.

Yep.

Barring a total meltdown in training camp where he just looks lost and not even a serviceable NFL player or he gets injured, Beauharnais will be on the roster come Week 1.

I forget where I read it but it was about how Khaseem Greene was the benefactor of Beauharnais' play.

I think you mean beneficiary.

Sorry! Anal financial guy alert! ;)

Maybe someone could start one of those internet polls, to find out if these three guys do not pan out if BB can trust Kyle Flood again???
