Jets intent on screwing up Geno Smith...

I'd have to believe if they offered the 2nd, 4th and 6th round picks they've invested in Tebow and Smith the last 2 years to Buffalo they could of reacquired Brad Smith.

could have reacquired Brad Smith, Grasshopper :)

That's basically true. The two Jets fans I know really well are aware their team sucks and have no expectations of getting better; and in fact have expectations that things will stay like crap.

I watched the last Pats Jets game with one, and he had already conceded the game before it started, and then was angry at the Jets from the first play onward.
The other when he heard about Tebow signing said "He's gonna have TWO great games and you know who it will be against".

......

LOL, Jester fans are so dumb they can't even count to 2.

I know I really should surrender my high school diploma :)

first you will have to produce your grammar school records..and please, no blistering, argumentative comments from across the pond on how grammar schools there go up to 12 grades...I know this.

In that case it's probably best that I return to East Gloucester Elementary this upcoming Sept.

Between now and then I will pay closer attention to my 3 years old sons "My Baby Can Read" DVD's.

Next time I drive over the Abram Piatt Andrew Bridge crossing over the Annisquam River into Gloucester, Ma I do intend to refer l to it as going 'across the pond'.

Visiting my mother is going to make me sound so worldly going forward.

This has turned into a great thread chock full of great Jet's insults - Thanks guys... just what I needed!

:D

To the point at hand - if Geno is smart (insert your own joke here) it's actually in his best interest NOT to be chosen as the starter this season.

Wrecks Ryan's best hope to retain his job may be to play the QB the new GM picked and hope he plays well enough to rescue his job as HC.

If Wrecks strats Sanchez and Sanchez sucks (yeah - unlikely - especially with all the great offensive weapons they have) then he's a gonner. It doesn't matter if Sanchez beat out Smith in camp - at that point both Sanchez and Ryan would be "Jet"isoned.

Geno Smith, like any young QB, would be best served sitting on the bench and learning the game rather than being thrown to the wolves (like Sanchez was) by a stupid head coach.

He can pretty much be assured he'll get a good long fair look by the next head coach, who Smith knows HAS to be better than Wrecks Ryan.

Seems to me Smith should ride this season out - playing just well(bad?) enough NOT to oust Sanchez from the starting role this season.

look..it's the freaking Jets...everybody knows how this movie ends...

They screwed him up by drafting him.

Oh please let it be true. Let Rex promise to 'use' Geno in a number of wildcat packages, and end up barely taking his butt off the bench! That's gonna have him steaming for sure! LOL. Did you hear his draft interview, as arrogant as can be for a guy who dropped out of the 1st round!!

Replacing Brad Smith wasn't as easy as they thought. Hopefully this can be their answer so they can focus on finding a QB this offseason.

I think Geno can double their 2012 production from this package, 78 pass yards..

As long as the Jets continue to muff the draft, they can expect to remain a mediocre to poor team.

Geno Smith is going to do enough screwing up that the Jets won't have to do anything to him..

Better yet - here's a quote from the reliable Don Banks from SI.com on why the Jets might have been thinking of Smith as the dreaded 'change of pace.'

Smith didn't wow anyone in the Jets' organization with his uneven offseason work, and he hasn't looked pro-ready and capable of assuming control of an NFL-style offense at this point. Maybe the perception changes once the preseason games start and his natural playmaking ability is on display, but Sanchez has a firm grip on the starting spot and seems to have the support of the team's veteran leadership, too. Smith's struggles with some of the basic skills -- like snap count at the line of scrimmage and huddle presence -- has led New York to contemplate a secondary, change-of-pace role for their second-round pick. In shades of the failed Tebow experiment, a read-option package of plays are being considered for him, even though that's not his forte. He's a pocket passer, not a running threat. In short, none of the early signs spell an opening-day starting assignment for Smith, meaning the Sanchez era isn't quite over, even if Jets fans might wish otherwise.

The Jets are one big mess from the owner to upper management, to the coach, and down to the team itself.

How slow do you have to be to struggle with the Jets' offensive basics, which even Mark "Red Light, Green Light" Sanchez was able to pick up?

This is another remarkable indictment of the Jets' entire mindset about player selection and development. They fall in love with a player rather than evaluate him, then when it becomes apparent that he isn't what they thought they had, try to make him into something he can't be.

Is this move to having Smith be a "change of pace" QB just because he's black (and therefore they believe that he must be a good open field runner)? JUST LOOK AT THE FILM. He's a pocket QB. If he has poor huddle presence, can't deal with the LOS pre-snap, he isn't any good at his job. Giving him a different job won't solve the problem.

But when your mode of player selection is based on media hype and falling in love, this is what happens.

I love it!

I read somewhere over at TGG Slime that Mark never did master the color code system which was developed just for him.

Absolutely I agree Rex Ryan is the worst coach in the NFL I can't wait to see him fired by week 4. Geno is going to be a bust and Buttfumblechez will stink it up again!

They should have never cut Tebow. He could have saved that franchise.
