Greg McElroy #2 QB beats Tebow - Yahoo! Video Search Results

And in other news, Tebow wasn't even good enough to withstand the Greg McElroy push for the #2 job. But hey - don't let F A C T S get in the way. He wasn't even good enough to beat McElroy.

New York Jets pick Greg McElroy, stick it to Tim Tebow - ESPN New York

By Ian O'Connor, a Jet's sports writer:

Tebow owns 16 career starts and a 9-7 record over his previous two seasons, including 1-1 in the playoffs. How is he less qualified to face San Diego than McElroy, who has one moderately successful relief appearance behind him and who has eternal backup written all over him?

....

What's in front of Ryan is a second consecutive winter of watching the Super Bowl tournament from his couch. He knows McElroy was a seventh-round pick for a reason, and deep down he knows Tebow doesn't deserve this cruel slap in the facemask.

Maybe Ryan is afraid Tebow would go 2-0 against San Diego and Buffalo and make him feel silly for sticking with Sanchez. Maybe Ryan is afraid a return of Timsanity would make him look worse than he looked that November night in Denver he sent the lead-footed Smith on a fateful blitz.

The really sad thing belicheck is that your BS is so transparently simply to refute. C'mon man, at least make it somewhat of a challenge.

BTW, as has been made apparent numerous times, you wouldn't recognize a FACT if someone else smacked you in the head with it.

None of that proves that McElroy "beat out Tebow" for the job.

BTW, how did that work out for McElroy and the Jets? Glass Jaw McElroy went down after ONE start. lol. Nothing against the kid, but he got jacked up in like two NFL series.

Oh yeah... between Tebow and McElroy, one guy has a division title and playoff wins to his name, not to mention many NFL PASSING RECORDS. Yep PASSING RECORDS.

I'll give you a hint... it's not McElroy.

Stop it.

Yea - I know "it's not McElroy."

It's Tebow and his inability to beat McElroy in practice.

Worked out perfectly for Rex. McElroy crapped the bed as well, taking himself out of contention. Tebow never saw the field and could safely be released. Mark is left as best QB on the roster and the presumptive starter for this season.

This logic makes zero sense, Rex Ryan is on hot seat as much as any HC in the NFL. His suggested loyalty to Sanchez is exaggerated. Geno Smith will have every chance to win the starting job. And I would be certain baring injury he will be the starter by week 8 at the latest.

This argument lost its validity when they drafted Geno Smith in the second round. That clearly indicates they're willing to move away from Sanchez. Just not to Tebow. They didn't see a fit for him, thats very concerning and indicative of his perceived QB ability that a coach who prefers to run the football doesn't see the fit for Tebow.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious to these Tebow lemmings. Don't worry, I am sure that they will have some kind of snappy comeback.

The 2012 JEST were one of the most rudderless teams in NFL history.

If you have your choice of a backup QB, do you take:
* The one who's healthy (McElroy), or
* The one healing from broken ribs (Tebow)?

If you're most teams, you take McElroy. On Thanksgiving against the Patriots, the JEST chose Tebow and made McElroy inactive.

The logic that Ryan just didn't want Tebow is crap. I think he brought him in to play the wildcat offense. His inability to grasp just that portion of the playbook, and be productive in the game obviously led to the belief that if he could do it in a minimal role how could he be trusted with the entire offense. That's understandable IMO.

I think if anything Ryan and Tebow both having to overcome dyslexia would bond them.

Remember we're talking about the same braintrust who cut Danny Woodhead to sign David Clowney.

I think that had to do with the fact that they had no intentions of showing Sanchez the bench at that point in the season. Tebow offered more value in terms of backup because he also played ST.

They cut him more because of McKnight, he was a 4th round draft pick and they wanted to give that opportunity to him.

His suggested loyalty to Sanchez is exaggerated ? Are you serious ? He should have benched Sanchez at least once or twice back in 2011 and he didn't. There was definitely reason for it early into the 2012 season, but again, he didn't.

Now that yet another OC has been fired, as well as Tanny being replaced at GM by Idzik, Rex has finally figured out that he needs to stop being loyal to Sanchez or whatever the hell it was that caused him to continue to start Sanchez.

He did bench Sanchez and utilized their #2 in McElroy because Tebow did not outplay his competition. But - please keep on making excuses because they are downright comical.

What you are trying to do is argue a "cetaris parabis" situation, meaning, that nothing else had changed.

Basically, you are saying that since the Jets brought in Geno in the 2013 draft, it shows that they weren't "loyal" to Sanchez in 2012.

Situations change. Another OC was fired after 2012 and the GM was fired as well. Idzik took over as GM and was in on the decision making for the draft choices.

Actually, Rex benched Sanchez and put McElroy in when Tebow was inactive due to injury. Mark got another chance and started the next two games (iirc) and crapped the bed yet again. Rex, in disgust, finally pulled the trigger and benched him.

Why he named McElroy the starter over Tebow is up for debate. I think it actually helps to prove my point that after benching Sanchez for cause, and naming McElroy as the starter, Rex again skipped Tebow and went back to Sanchez when McElroy couldn't start the last game due to injury.

He had already seen enough of Mark. Had benched him mid game, given him another chance by starting him again, then benched him again.

Simple explanation is that there is no way that Rex was going to put Tebow in as the starter, and in my opinion, it's because he was worried that Tebow might actually do better than both Sanchez and McElroy, which would really make him look stupid and put him in a difficult situation this year.

There's no debate in your mind of course. In the real world, there's plenty of debate about the subject.

There is no debate period and when Tebow is cut by the Patriots, you and the Tebow lemmings can go find the board on which CFL team that he may be a part of in 2014 or 2015. Hey maybe - he will be playing at your local indoor football league.
