Whatever happened to Matt Flynn? Don't see him on there...

I would guess that he'll be starting for OAK this year, so that's likely why he wasn't on the list.

When Tyler Wilson beats him out every team looking to find a young starting QB in the late rounds will be offering to trade for Flynn in the offseason. He is like a lucky coin.

Oh nice, I missed that news. Wanted to see what this kid could do ever since taking us to task and putting up 6tds against the Lions.

Not sure why Chase Daniel is 4th.

For some reason, BB tends to play conservative defenses against new QBs.

This is a terrible list. Gives some unexperienced guys the benefit of the doubt, treats others like complete unknowns.

If Flynn once against loses out in camp to a later round draft pick, I'd think that teams would probably think twice or three times about trading for him.

Tebow will move ahead of Mallet after this season.

At first I did not see the word "backup" and wondered who lost their mind.

Granted, it's only one writer's opinion, but still. . . . flame away. ;)

Ranking the NFL's backup quarterbacks - NFL.com

ETA: He's convinced that Mallett is starting elsewhere in 2014.

That list seems about right. I was thinking the same thing about Chase Daniel because he was with the Saints but his ranking attached to the Chiefs is a tad off.

With that said - the Tebow ranking seems appropriate for a guy who has proven he cannot pass the ball over a 55% mark and was unable to unseat not only the starting quarterback in New York but fell behind their backup.

Having Tebow between Tyrod Taylor and Drew Stanton is right about where he belongs in quarterback rankings and I won't be surprised when the rookies (Glennon, Smith and Tyler Wilson) become better quarterbacks than Tebow as well.

"ESPNBoston.com gives Tebow a 25 percent chance of making the team. Don't expect the Patriots to line him up at tight end. If he can't cut it as a third-string passer -- or if Bill Belichick views three arms as a luxury -- Tebow's history. I'm in the minority, but I still think Timmy can play in the right situation."

He would be a good luck charm.

...Tebow... was unable to unseat not only the starting quarterback in New York but fell behind their backup.

There was no open competition for the #1 QB slot. It was predetermined by the Jets staff that Sanchez would be the starter before anyone even took a snap.

The only real comparison we have between Tebow and Sanchez head-to-head was in 2011 when the Broncos upset the heavily favored Jets. Tebow led the game-winning drive, and Sanchez threw the game-losing INT. FACT.

Oh yeah... there's this too...

Too bad that Rex didn't have a tatoo of Greg McElroy, you know that rookie quarterback from Alabama, because he beat out Tebow for the #2 job as well last year.

Amazing isn't it, how some people don't let a silly little thing like THE FACTS get in the way of their specious arguments ??

Rex Ryan has a strong and inflexible message for Jets fans who get impatient with Mark Sanchez and start chanting for Tim Tebow to come to the rescue in the season opener against the Bills: Save your lungs, it’s not going to happen.

I don’t care what I hear,” Ryan told the Daily News on Thursday. “So it doesn’t matter. They can yell, they can do all they want. Mark is our quarterback and that's just the way it is. Am I excited to have Tim here? Of course. Because I know we brought in an outstanding football player. I knew that from day one and that’s the way it is.”

But oh, you might say "That was after Rex saw Tebow in camp/preseason!!!!!"

So, let's go back to before Tebow even put on a Jet's uniform and took the field.

Ryan: "They're both extremely competitive guys, but we have a No. 1 quarterback. Mark Sanchez is our No. 1 quarterback. Tim Tebow is our No. 2 quarterback, but he's also going to do other things for this football team. He is a football player. I don't just look at him as a quarterback -- I look at him as a football player. Let's not hear what guys can't do; let's talk about what they can do. I see a guy with a lot of ability, and we're going to use that." - See more at:

So much for that QB competition that Tebow didn't win.:singing::singing:

After going most the season with Mark crapping the bed and Rex ignoring everyone who called for Tebow, he would have looked pretty stupid if he had put Tebow in and they started winning games.

Additionally, what would that have done for Sanchez and the $12+ million the Jets owe him this year ?

Worked out perfectly for Rex. McElroy crapped the bed as well, taking himself out of contention. Tebow never saw the field and could safely be released. Mark is left as best QB on the roster and the presumptive starter for this season.
