Thought the Sunday Ticket was too expensive? For $99.99 it's a must-have for any out of town fan - and even for those that live in New England....

Wow, that sounds like a steal. I ditched cable, so have been struggling with watching the prime time games, does the NFL sunday ticket include the prime time games? It looks like it does.

I have not played Madden in years, but wouldn't mind picking up a controller and seeing how things have changed.

I would warn people to read the fine print before purchasing. There are a lot of things that are unclear in the offer. Below is what the website says:

Exclusive Offers From DirecTV

- For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge.
-For fans who are already DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers, you can access NFL Sunday Ticket on your computer, tablet, and mobile devices using your current DirecTV username and password.
-For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.

So I'm guessing that means if you live in the US and are not a DirecTV subscriber they will give you a code giving you $10 off a month for programming and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket after you become a customer. Which they always offer anyway to new subscribers anyway.

If you are currently a subscriber and have NFL Sunday Ticket you can get it on your portable device for free ($75 value).

The last bullet is for fans UNABLE to receive DirecTV. They have always described that as people that are outside of their customer base (outside of the US and Canada). For example the NFL has allowed people outside of the US to get NFL games via the Internet for a couple of years now for a low price (about $100 a year), but have never offered that to people in the US.

I wonder if they're going to make it available to Xbox Live customers. My friend (who is a Giants fan :bricks got it last year through his PS3 but it wasn't available on Xbox Live. He said it was the best $300 he's ever spent. I would gladly shell out that coin as where I live has too many trees that surround my house in order to get DirecTV.

There used to be a really good website where you could stream games in HD but, alas, the FBI had other ideas in mind.

Little tip to help some of you. Ive been an NFL package subscriber for several years and every year I call and let them know its too expensive and I'm going to have to cancel. They cut $100 every year. Try it. You will save some money.

I have been a Sunday Ticket subscriber for the past 5 years.....EVERY year I give them the same old BS story that its too high for my income and I would like a good deal..sometimes you may get a customer rep that is hard to deal with,but keep trying even if it takes you a few calls during the month...you will eventually get an offer that is very good.

The last 2 years I paid $30 a month for the season which covers 5 payments and got the extra Max offer for free.

Just make sure you always pay your directv bill on time or it will be tougher to get a good deal

There are a lot of people, such as me, living in the U.S. but unable to subscribe to DirecTV for different reasons including apartment dwellers with no place to put the satellite, or no direct access to the southern skies.

True, the Sunday Ticket does not include any prime time games, nor does it include games that are broadcast local to where you live.

Reason for that is those games are already available on another station.

Yeah... based on that, I'm betting that customers inside of the US won't be able to get Sunday Ticket without DirecTV. Bummer, because I can't get it (no clear view of the southern sky) - I'd be willing to pay a couple hundred for Sunday Ticket alone, but I doubt that's in the cards here.

I don't see how DirecTV and the NFL get away with this monopoly. MLB tried to make their package available to only DirecTV and they got smacked down with threats of congressional involvement. But the NFL essentially has been grandfathered in and allowed to have their situation.

I don't know, you still have availability of the team that is local to your area on so-called "free" television. It's open bidding, and DTV bid the most, they get the contract; is that really all that much different from NBC outbidding others for the exclusive rights to broadcast Sunday Night Football?

On the other hand, defenders on your side could point out it is a significant difference between a specific service provider versus a specific network. I don't have time to do it right now but at some point it may be worth researching the NFL's television antitrust exemption and the legislation that Nixon signed off on versus baseball's antitrust exemption (which I believe does not apply to broadcasts).

• Choose a server in a country that the NFL is offering GamePass for free.
• Stream games.

That's what I did last year. Could watch every game for every team live. You could also replay any game from the last 2 years or the current season.

I don't have a "side". All I am saying is that when MLB tried to do the same thing they got a lot of negative publicity and had to back down after congress threatened to get involved.

Actually the way I read it people like you that are unable to get DTV (e.g. due to trees or homeowner association rules) could qualify for this Sunday Ticket promotion; the question is whether or not somebody that could get DTV if they really wanted to can use this offer for it.

It seems to me that if it was only available outside the U.S. then it would be marketed as such.

Best bet is probably to call DirecTV, tell them your situation (trees), and ask if you qualify.
