Anyone listen to Felger on the radio today? Mazz was out, so Bertrand was in...and he's not afraid to argue w/ Felger. Even Adam Kaufman argued w/ Felger, too. :rocker:

Felger tried to argue that, back in the superbowl years, the Pats would never have the kind of guy who gets arrested, like AHern. He said this because he claimed to be a beat reporter and he "just knew," lol.

Meanwhile, Bertrand later jumped in and pointed out -- to Felger's noticeable frustration -- that there were 6 arrests in '00-'04 on their roster, and just 8 from '04-'13 on their roster (over many more years, too). LOL. Felger got flat out proven wrong; and he was noticeably annoyed by it. Bertrand and Adam Kaufman were even making fun of him for his hand gestures, as a result of being so annoyed. As such. Felger's only response was him raising his cracked voice and claiming that "it's not the same!" Lol.

Man, there was more to their arguments too. I was literally pumping my fists at Felger losing the debate, too. Best radio show since Mike Reiss called up Felger and handed it to him then, too.

I haven't listened to Felger or Mazz in over 6 months. I'm done with them, although it sounds like I may have enjoyed this particular how.

Same here, brother. Same here.

I caught parts of it (though on the radio, so I didn't see the hand gestures). Bertrand also pointed out that arrests in the NFL in general have gone up since 2008.

He also brought up a point that's been bothering me since this whole thing began. Isn't it interesting how all of these stories about Hernandez and the red flags surrounding him are coming out now, in hindsight? The media, who's sole purpose in life seems to be living inside the rectums of these athletes (the fast track to sports writing stardom is to break a scandal), never heard about any of these things?

I'm not saying they didn't happen, but if you're going to blame the Patriots for ignoring the red flags, you have to point out that EVERYONE missed them, including those whose livings depend on the scoop.

I just made the same point. What makes them even more complicit than the team is that it is their job to find out such things about players. If it was all right there in front of them how did they not know about it? Or maybe they did and covered it up. I think people should flow the talk shows and twitter asking the questions about why the media didn't know. They have told us repeatedly now about how obvious it all was.

the fast track to sports writing stardom is to break a scandal

Are you sure about that?
Tomase sure hasn't been fast tracked to stardom.
The big names in NFL reporting all have one thing in common....access. And access is achieved by blowing smoke up players/coaches/owners asses....not chopping them off at the nuts. Peter King wrote the book on butt kissing (Favre Favre Favre) and look at the heights he's achieved.
Can you remember the name of the reporter that undercovered Mark McGuire's andro use? Or the Balco investigating reporters? Remember, sports is a lucrative entertainment industry first and foremost....and the reporters that play ball get the carrots. The stars of the baseball media elite turned a blind eye on roids for a decade, just like the teams did. And in football, PEDs is still a conversation on the periphery. And what about concussions. The NFL has behaved much like the tobacco industry did for decades....deny....and present counter-argument experts to debunk. It's a big apple cart and it must not get tipped over

The fast track and the stable track are not the same thing. For those who know how to get access and do it the right way, that's great. For those trying to break into the scene without years of networking, breaking a scandal is the ticket. They're probably easy come, easy go, but with the number of vultures looking to dig for this stuff, it just seems odd that nobody reported any of this until now. If it was so obvious to the Pats, it should have been obvious to the media.

You don't become a star (at least in a positive way) by completing messing up and running with a false story. If you're going to break a scandal, it's important to make sure the scandal actually exists first.

I do understand your point, though. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I don't remember any details about the Andro story. I do remember Mark Fainaru-Wada (sp?) from the Bonds/Balco story, but not the name of his partner, though I think his first name was Mark also.

Wish Felger would have a full scale meltdown, never mind this semi meltdown stuff... he has become just another contrarian..
