Now I've seen it all.. Herm Edwards defending the Pats..

He's absolutely spot on. I'm sure the Pats did their due-diligence on Hernandez. But you can't be big brother 24/7 to these guys.

There was a big stink in Dallas about having security staff assigned to Dez Bryant. . . .

I liked Herm Edwards........too bad he did time with the jets

IDK, Edwards did defend the Pats during Spygate. He said he knew the Pats were taping the defensive signals and didn't care because he thought it was no big deal hence why he was reportedly seen waving to the camera guy in one of the tapes (which he confirmed).

Came here to post this.

Not every coach for a rival is the spawn of Satan, you guys...

Yeah, I also kinda recall those words from Hermie during Cameragate.

The worst I can say about him is that he wasn't a very good NFL HC. Tony Dungheap, OTOH...

Always enjoyed listening to him on M&M. He is just being consistent with the same message he has been saying for a while.

Players have to be responsible for themselves.

FWIW, I've heard Edwards defend the Patriots many, many times. Stupid homer. ;)

Herm likes us because.... "They play to win the game! That's what they do, they play to win the game!"

:D

Nothing to be amazed at.

So many times, we hear fans saying tank the season. Anyone remember the last game for the number one pick between the Pats and Baltimore; named the toilet bowl. Edwards did not mince his words; we play to win. Does not matter for what place or what prize; why do we play, we play to win.

I really don't see how anyone can attack the Patriots in this situation. Typical America these days. "Oh no, who must we blame in this situation" The Patriots, like the other 31 NFL teams, did their research ...They aren't required to monitor their players 24/7...that would be called stalking.

As a caller on 98.5 pointed out this morning: Not a whole lot of finger-pointing at the Chiefs last year after the whole Jevan Belcher situation. Difference this time is ... it's the Patriots.

Anyone blaming the Patriots or Gators is just looking for a scapegoat. Aaron Hernandez is to blame for Aaron Hernandez.

Every Patriots fan thinks the media is anti-Patriots. Every Steelers fan thinks the media is anti-Steelers. Every Cowboys fan thinks the media is anti-Cowbos. And on and on...

I've never thought that Herm Edwards had it out for the Patriots, nor do I think that most national pundits do (except maybe Marshall Faulk on his bad days.) Locally, there are a few rabble rousers who like to stir things up. The Spygate situation was blown up to ridiculous proportions, and maybe that is why people are so sensitive. Still, I think the main reason why fans of their own team thinks they are slighted by the media is because most media members aren't enormous homers.

You're right. It just seems like Boston "sportswriters" have it in for the Patriots, in particular, a few fine pieces of work.

True, the bottom line is the individual is responsible for his actions; although, Florida turned its head on a number of occasions, as do many college programs.

In my opinion, it's more than "just seems like." A bunch of them do. Borges, Felger, Mazzarotti, Shaughnessy, MacMullan, Buckley, Gasper, Dupont, Callahan, Ryan (to some degree), Tomase...just those who immediately come to mind...
