I've been on leave now for the past week which is the reason for all of my posts, I am bored. But I want to know people's take on Aaron Dobson, the rookie WR and what his role will be in the offense. I feel as though, he is slightly being underappreciated and overlooked being the attention and press that other receivers taken before him are getting and half of them aren't even as good IMO. I like this guy's size, hands, route running, deceptive speed and again, great hands. Made a few one handed grabs including that great one that always scores the highlight reels. But what I also like about him is his intel, which is maybe something that Bill missed in previous receiver drafts. This kid has played in a complexed NFL type offensive system and is very smart, which makes it easier for him to learn the system. Additionally, he didn't drop ANY passes his senior year which is impressive. And with great coaching from Bill Belichick, Josh McDaniels, and the master Brian Daboll along with playing with IMO the best to ever play in Tom Brady, I think will give him a great chance to be a Franchise WR. I often heard him being compared to guys like Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss, and that doesn't come often to rookie receivers. He has been touted, the best WR prospect out of Marshall since Moss, and that's 16 years ago. And Marshall, does give us a good track record in receivers being that two of the very best we've ever had here in NE are from Marshall in Troy Brown and Randy Moss. What is your take on him? And despite the talk, I actually like his jersey number because it seems to go along with other skilled receivers around his size with a jersey number in the teens lol.. Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Marques Colston, AJ Green ;) not but seriously comments or feedback on the kid

it will take this kid a few years to get the system. he won't be a 1000 yard receiver next year, which sucks because the team has really no one else at WR other than Amendola (if he's even healthy).

If we can get 40 catches and 500 yards and 5 TDs outta him, I'd be thrilled.

We can pretty reasonably guess that, and manage expectations accordingly, but we're seeing WRs come in and make impacts far faster than we used to, due to the increasing complexity of college offenses. If he comes in and plays as the credible #1 wideout this year, it shouldn't shock anyone.

Different positions, but people were saying the same things about Jones, Solder, and McCourty just over the past few years. The Patriots are pretty good at getting immediate production out of their early picks.

also keeping my eye on cordarelle patterson and making sure that he pats didn't screw that up. honestly, if patterson turns out to be a star, then we need to get a GM to the drafting....

look at it as cordarelle or jamie collins josh boyce logan ryan and buchanan i think most people would pick 4 over 1 most times

Dobson situation reminds me a lot of Marvin Harrison's. Not in terms of being a player (size, speed, athleticism) but rather how he is entering the NFL. Like Harrison he was in what was considered to be a deep WR class, he however wasn't raved about, and he wasn't talked negatively about, he simply was seen as a solid draft pick who had a solid college career.

I think he is going to be a really good player at this level. I don't think he will ever be in the class of a Johnson Jr, Jones or the handful of other elite WR. I think he will fall nicely into that second tier of WR. And that would make him an outstanding draft pick IMO.

I'm less worried about Cordarelle Patterson who was never likely to be a good Pats fit, and more worried about Robert Woods who was a really nice fit. That he plays for a rival team now also makes Woods more relevant.

I'm still pissed at the Pats for passing over the likes of Jennings and Bryant. I really hope Patterson isn't another one I'm pissed about.

Well you gotta make up your mind now about Patterson. You can't wait to see if he's good and then get pissed, that just wouldn't be fair to BB!

I agree on Woods, luckily it will be at least 3-4 years before Manuel is a good NFL QB and to be realistically he might not ever pan out.

Every time NE has moved back they have ended up with a premier talent at least equal to the player given up. If anything, fans should be thrilled when NE gives up or moves back in the first round because it means a stud is coming.

At least one rookie will have a great year because Brady will have to throw to someone.

His success will be measured in part by how much attention he garners on the outside and up field ... both of which Brandon Lloyd failed to do. Even if he draws extra attention on the outside it will be a huge help.

Corderelle is a dumb thug from Tenesee. One AH is more than enough! CP may be Ok for a while in a simple offense, but he wouldn't cut it on the Pats like Ocho Cinco.

Aaron Dobson is a good citizen with Phenomenal hands and great size. The only other receiver I coveted was Robert Woods, who has it all but is not as big as the frontline WRs.

TB & BB should be on A.Dobs as much as possible to learn Playbook and their system. He's has alot of potential and we need him NOW! At least give him a legit chance to see what he has and evaluate from there.

Lloyd's problem was that he chose to garner negative attention in the locker room, that is why they let him go... they want leaders not detractors.

Dobson's mini-camp performance left a lot to be desired, though he did make some nice catches. He better have his nose in the playbook during "vacation" and work on catching the "easy" balls. He also should hire somebody to help him learn all the routes he will be asked to run in NE...Maybe have his head in last years game film.

He has an opportunity to be a GREAT WR, but the questions is, will he seize that opportunity?
