Can anyone tell me if there was any Representative from the Patriots to offer any condolences to the Llyoyd family? I see the Mass State Police sent someone and but did not hear or read any reports that the Patriot's sent one.

Anyone have any info?

thanks

Do not understand a reason why they would???

Funerals are supposed to be a time for families to grieve not a media circus....

because it would be the right thing to do?

Not sure why it would be the right thing to do...

because it would be the right thing to do?

What makes it the right thing to do??

The Patriots had nothing to do with this... but confident that Mr. Kraft will express his condolences in another forum.

Not sure why they would ... he was the friend of Hernandez and family and had no connection to the Patriots. I would think a more appropriate thing to do might be to donate to a scholarship fund in his name or something like that.

somebody call felger. he and he alone is the only one who knows if it was the right thing to do. :bricks:

Are you trying to imply the NFL has some sort of moral obligation to pay their respects? Why? If AH worked at McDonalds instead do you think they would send Ronald McDonald or any employee just because they employed him? Uh, no. Lol.

It is truly a sad day in our culture when he has become some type of standard of right and wrong....

But he can louder and over you..

That's true…but they are indirectly involved. By releasing a statement the day Aaron got arrested and "extend (their) sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment (the Patriots) feel knowing that one of (their) players was arrested"
By saying all of that, they are putting themselves into the conversation and it would be completely understandable if they made charitable donation in Lloyd's name or sent a rep to play respects to the family at the funeral. Maybe they did and we just don't know about it?

I know this whole AH is a touchy subject. I'm not judging the pats one way or other. That's on them not me.

But I can have a personal opinion & Yes, my personal opinion is that they should have sent someone low key, maybe a player or a front-office representative to personally give them their respect. Maybe they did and that is why I'm asking the question.

The Patriots express themselves as a classy organization and always trying to do the right thing. As much as you say the patriot's had nothing to do with the this & for the most part you are right, but the patriot's player (now ex) and brand are also caught in the middle of it, right or wrong. How the Patriots handle this whole AH situation moving forward will have a direct influence on their brand. That's why the NFL & Patriots want all AH's jerseys off the street. Do you think that has more to do with their brand or just the patriots trying to be classy?

The Patriots are either going to run away, deny, hide, evade and take no responsibility or they will try to turn this horrible/horrific crime(s) into something we all call learn from and somehow make something positive out of this, as hard as it may be...

Your post conveys the point I was trying to make…though you wrote it in a much better way.

They will probably do something because it is the PC thing to do, but they should not. The team was in no way responsible for the actions of Aaron Hernandez (who has been convicted of nothing to date).

While it is unfortunate that this person has been killed, it's not likely he was an innocent victim. My mother always said, "Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you what you are." She also always said, "No good ever happens after midnight." The victim was riding around with gangsters at two o'clock in the morning.

The only possible thing I could see the Pats doing is negotiating a settlement that would cause money owed to Hernandez to be put into trust for the child and mother -- and that would be altruistic.

Time to move on from an unfortunate relationship.

The NFL & the NE Patriots are not like any employer (ie mcdonalds).

They have personally drafted someone with character concerns coming out of college and some teams took AH off their draft boards because of it. Not only that they extended him with a 40M contract and gave him 9.5M upfront

When redsox GM, Epstien, wanting to sign carl crawford to a $160M contract, he hire a personal investigator to investigate before hand to ensure there were no off-field concerns.

If the Patriots did the same thing epstein did, they would know within a couple weeks of what this guy is all about. It was so blatant. even Matt Light knew what AH stood for.

Did the patriots know about AH shooting someone eye in florida in 2/13?
Did the patriots know about the gun incident at a RI nightclub earlier in 2103?

In my opinion, The Patriots did not due their due diligence.

You are asking for the Patriots to make a public relations gesture.
To me, that is actually insensitive.
I would assume that Robert Kraft made a phone call behind the scenes to the family expressing his condolence.
I am sure the family would prefer to mourn their loss among family and friends without the interuption of a representative of the New England Patriots there to do damage control to 'protect the brand'.

Employers are not responsible for the personal lives of their employees.
It would be illegal to fire an employee over rumors of their personal live.
Drafting a player is no different than hiring an employee, and giving a contract extension is not the equivalent of complicity in any crime he commits.

It's pretty clear that the New England Patriots are cutting any ties to Ahern and therefore the murder. They are doing all they can to not be involved in anything related to the murder. I don't think joining the funeral for the victim furthers those plans.

The only "right thing to do" is to stay out of it. If Ahern is convicted, then maybe return Ahern's 50k Kraft Fund donation to the Lloyd family.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that if a member of my family were murdered I would not want the murderers employer to show up at the funeral. If that employer were high profile and would bring more media attention, I would like it even less.
This should be about the family, and what is best for them, not the image of the NEP.
