I linked a news report from WBZ at 5:45 this morning...THAT is when they said "sources just contacted" or whatever...I was thinking...gee, these guys have been up all night and waited until quarter of six in the morning to print "definite!!!!"...then I realized WBZ linked directly to CBS...so it was actually CBS spinning like a mongo water rat on a water treadmill, trying to spin anything at all costs to save face on their erroneous stream of misinformation.

Until something actually occurs I will from here on out associate THIS character with all news "stories"...

I am assuming the conflicting reports were due to how the warrant was specifically issued. In other words, it seems as though they were correct the whole time with their leads and sources. The fact that they have indeed issued a warrant pretty much proves this, despite their choice to leave it on paper with the detectives, rather than issuing it into the state/national database.

Unless of course you think it's just a coincidence that his lawyers left his home at 4:59pm, the exact same time that the courts closed for the day.

I'm a bit confused of obstruction of justice in this case. I know you can apply it to destruction of evidence, but if we were to assume he is the killer, then this would be a rare case of such a warrant being issued.

I mean most murderers who try to get away with it try to hide weapons, evidence, etc. If I throw my gun away prior to becoming a suspect I guess that would be obstruction of justice too, and yet you rarely hear of this being used.

I think a good lawyer would be able to argue against this as being circumstantial evidence unless Aaron told them he specifically destroyed this after the time of murder.

Keep in mind that this could be a power play of sorts to hope that he cooperates more into the investigation. After all, they are trying to solve the much more important murden vs being worried about Hernandez's OOJ charge. One theory is that they don't have enough of a case to be able to put together stronger charges at this point in time, but feel that he is knowledgable as to what happened more than he is stating.

As any other case, more charges can/will be applied if they feel that they have enough evidence. It's also appropriate to remember that IF an OOJ charge is handed out, they obviously feel that they are capable of proving the fact that AH destroyed or tampered with the evidence himself, and that is was blatent enough to be able to prove. It also is worth noting that they could be "using" the media a bit too, as has been done plenty of times in the past--especially with higher profile cases with lots of attention.

One thing that keeps creeping into my mind is why if he was going to try and destroy these items, didn't he just "lose" them instead? Or at least use the magnet approach to erase the hard drive instead? That would have been much better than actually turning over the items all beaten up and physically destroyed (if that is indeed what really happened of course).

there's a very large percentage of very intelligent people who have this particular blind spot...I know, because I have it (and I'm not even that smart). What you are doing is assuming a level of intelligence possessed by this individual. Any endeavor you care to pick, I'll show you people of great intelligence, good intelligence, average intelligence and those below average....you look at that business and you see the CEO on down to the janitor. While no person is better than another on an existential level, there are reasons why one person is a manager and another is a third shift inventory assistant.

The workforce of the NFL is a different animal altogether though...

Hernandez is a football player...coddled and placed on a pedestal since he was a teenager.I really doubt he has learned the ability to finesse the state police or even town police of ANY state anywhere. The only benchmarks I have seen on him are athletic skill combined with big money with a propensity towards ingesting marijuana on a regular basis. If he wasn't an NFL football player,his lifestyle right now at age 23 screams slacker.

Thinking through?? Premeditation?...my opinion is you are overestimating him in this regard.

For everyone saying its moving slowly and why is it moving slowly. Its a murder case the wheels of justice move very slow. They have to be sure when making an arrest because if they just arrest everyone for it it makes them look like its just a witch hunt

Which wouldn't be a disaster if it was Joe Schmo who worked at the local dive bar. But with all the media scrutiny surrounding the case, a false arrest would become a legendary screw-up.

The rumor or perception that an arrest warrant is coming may cause Hernandez to act erratically or make a mistake leading investigators to more evidence.

Hernandez has already behaved unusual when he showed up at Gillette out of the blue.

I know THREE search warrants have been executed at his house and he smashed a home vid surveillance system... forgive me if I don't take solace that the media may be prematurely and/or erroneous on the arrest warrant.

Most of these "warrant" reports are just news outlets trying to be the first to break a story. They hear one thing and immediately jump to a conclusion to be the first to break it.
