After hundreds of posts and 24/7 media breathless "reportage", we now know very few facts.

Facts:
A supposed acquaintance of AHern's got killed.
He apparently was dating the sister of Ahern's fiancee/girlfriend/wife.

Speculation:
He was shot once or several times. He may or may not have been killed where he was found, in an industrial park in SouthEast Massachusetts.
The acquaintance was apparently driving a vehicle rented by Ahern. He may or may not have been killed in the car.

That is all we know.

I myself, probably like you, have a couple of old, broken or inoperative cellphones in my house. I also have a home security system, that I found could be thoughtlessly set off. I have not armed it in years. I don't even know if it still works. When I had a big house, we had it cleaned once a week by a cleaning service.

So I am probably a murderer, by the criterion used by the Media.

The "media problems" we see these days are mostly Internet-driven. Twitter is the primary culprit. It's all so competitive and greater risks are being taken to be first with the news vs. making responsible accuracy priority one.

its the biggest case of the Media playing "Go fish" since the last time. (sadly the Boston bombing)

They couldn't even learn lessons from mistakes made 2 months ago.

Here's an issue I had with one of the many "reports" so far:

If there was video from a neighbor showing Hernandez with Lloyd then surely there is video showing them either:

A. Leaving again
B. The body being brought out of the house
C. Lloyd leaving on his own in the car found at the scene

Then there's the whole "cleaning service" fiasco, a millionaire in a mansion is going to have at least once a week cleaners come in.

you're right!!!! I got a shoe box filled with old cell phones right here!!!

whew...that was close...just looked and none of them have the smart chip in them...you know that's really good because if any of them did, even if I SMASHED THE PHONE IN PIECES the chip would STILL contain ALL the information and files I acquired while I was using them.

Is this so frickin' hard to understand? .... half this board keeps bawking about "he destroyed the phone in pieces!!!!!!! IN PIECES!!!!!!! BAD!!!!!!! REAL REAL BAD!!!!!!"...jeezus krist...LEAD is practically see through compared to you clowns.

As soon as they brought out the helicopters that was it for me. There has been a tragedy but all these people babbling on just to have something for the news channels is ridiculous. As has been mentioned; the facts haven't changed in 3 days; someone is dead, someone killed him and AHern may have some information about it. That's it.

This is my first post on this case as I have tried to reserve judgment but two things to consider..
1) Most cell phone companies and keep the contents of text messages for 3-5 days after they are sent so that evne if a phone is destroyed there may still be a digital copy of any yexts sent or received...
2) Any surveillance system worth its weight has a remote recording available. This is to prevent someone from taking the tape/CD/medium and having no other recording the premises...Even if the system were destroyed, there is the possibility that there is a remote copy of the destroyed media.
Food for thought...

The first reasonable thread on the topic, so I will post a comment.

One guy is dead. He might not have been a Saint, but he's still dead.

Another guy has had his name dragged through the mud by members of a media cohort that has the sole objective of getting attention for its members and that has time and again demonstrated not only its inattention to detail but also its ability to misrepresent and distort facts for its own purposes. The police have released no information beyond the basic details. Hernandez has not been charged with a crime and certainly has not had the benefit of a trial by a jury of his peers. He too is almost certainly not a Saint, but he is entitled to due process. He might be guilty of murder. Or he might be the unfortunate victim of a cascade of circumstances and bad luck. Or, the truth might be somewhere in between. We have no way of knowing.

And yet, we have had days of endless speculation and even multi-choice polls on completely hypothetical scenarios in this Forum.

Do people have nothing better to do? Or, are they so invested in people they have never met that they feel the need to try, convict and sentence Hernandez on the one hand or defend him breathlessly on the other?

Let's just declare a moratorium on speculation until we actually know something.

And let's be conscious that one young man has died and another young man, who has given us fans a lot of great moments, is in a lot of trouble.

Azpatsfan you shouldnt be posting " explosive" stuff like this here!!! :D Reason and common sense has no place here...hang em and hang em high, then we will have court trial

your home address please :cool3:

The Attleboro murder makes no sense to me, if AHern did it, he must be incredibly stupid...

If he covered it up he must be incredibly stupid...

The Florida case makes no sense to me, why didn't that victim pursue it criminally and then file the wrongful injury suit.. that sounds like a whole bunch of conjecture and bs... the victim in that case sounds like an opportunist.

None of it makes much sense.. now we have incidents outside of Providence night clubs and strip clubs.. which seem to have little bearing on any of this...

All the while the idiotic mediots are circling in their helicopters and shoving microphones in his face while he is getting gas...

He may just be this incredibly stupid, or maybe there is just too much bullshyt.. time will tell and justice will ensue...

The news is so desperate they all seem to be waiting for a trainwreck...

Yes! It's that simple.

At the very least AH should stay home and forget about seedy strip clubs for a while....at the very least.

Absolutely.

First thing I ever thought about in a strip club was murdering someone.

Let's not kid ourselves, the facts are someone who Hernandez was with was murdered and the police are searching Hernandez's home for the third time in a week since the murder. Don't try to make it seem like Hernandez isn't directly connected to this, police don't spend this much time in one location if they don't think it has a connection.

At this point, this is not known to be a fact by the public or the press. What's been reported is that Hernandez had been with him at some time prior to the murder.

Despite your apparent position, a house being searched is not an absolute guarantee of direct involvement, or direct connection, by a(the) homeowner.

Listen to talk radio, here is some of the misinformation some of the hosts said:

"We know that Hernandez shot a guy in the face down in Florida"

Do we? That is what the man alleges, but six months ago he claimed it was an unknown African American guy and Hispanic guy even though he now claims to be an associate of Hernandez. He also claims that he and Hernandez got into an altercation in the strip club be was in, but the club manager claims there was no altercation. The guy is seeking justice in civil court and has a shady background himself (the only picture I have seen of him is his mug shot from a few months ago).

'Hernandez had a very large cleaning crew come in to clean his house on Monday"

When has it been reported as a very large cleaning crew? We don't even know if the cleaning crew weren't already scheduled to clean on Monday before the murder.

Well, look at the size of his house! Of course it would be large.

That's true. I have two people clean my house and I think my house might be smaller than Hernandez's dog house.

I house being searched once, may mean no connection. But this is the third time. Are the cops are just wasting their time there, or trying to throw off the real killers. They wouldn't spend this much time to clear his name.

The number of searches doesn't change "no connection" to "some connection". What's found, or not found, could do that, but not some search number.
