If the team cuts him, will it be able to get reimbursement on some of the $40 mil contract that he recently signed (similar to Michael Vik)?

I think it depends on how the case goes. If the team is deprived of his services due to his legal situation, then presumably yes.

Let's see how this plays out. Things aren't looking good for him. But when real details emerge and not just leaks and rumors that we are getting now, things might not be nearly as bad for him. Then again, it could be a 100 times worse.

I am waiting and seeing because I looked like an idiot killing Edelman for his arrest when video evidence showed he did nothing wrong.

Depending on his contract language, I would think he would have to pay at least some of his signing bonus back, and the Patriots will release or suspend him.

I wouldn't be too surprised if he did stick, Talib isn't exactly a model citizen either(granted he hasn't killed anybody or been involved in a murder). Obviously very disappointing seeing this unfold and Hernandez will be a huge loss on the field.

I heard a joke yesterday that he should call Ray Lwwis' attorney.
I don't want him to get off like ray ray.
If he's guilty, and it sure sounds like he was up to his eyeballs in this, he should go to jail and have his contract voided.
It's bad enough that ray ray got anointed after being involved in a murder. It shouldn't happen again. What he contributes on the field should not be a factor.
He's at least guilty of obstruction based on the house cleaning, smashed cell & video equipment. He's going down in flames and appears to totally deserve it.

the latest CBA has a blanket 'personal conduct policy' provision that protects every team from every contract should there be a problem.......I believe this would constitute as a problem.

between this and the fact that he's never played an entire season, if I were the pats, I'd be done with this at the first possible moment

Some these posts on this site for that last few days regarding AH are utterly ridiculous. Last time I checked there is no one on this entire site who is in the FBI, CIA, or any kind of law enforcement. What gives you the right to say all these disgusting things about this guy who we all have cheered for and rooted for?? Here's fun fact for you WE DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT, nobody does. What happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty?? Don't we still practice that in this country.....i thought so. Hernandez is not just a TE for the New England Patriots, he is a 23 year old dude with a young daughter and he's human just like me or you regardless of the amount of money in his bank account. And yes, this situation looks grim for him and he may or may not have committed this crime but that is not up to us, the reporters, or ESPN to decide its up to the US Judicial System. And until they the court system and not some guy who watches to much CSI Miami have concluded that he was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that AH was absolutely involved in this I will give him the benefit of the doubt because if the shoe was on the other foot and you or a member of your own family were the one being accused of these acts then you would want the same thing.

And until they the court system and not some guy who watches to much CSI Miami have concluded that he was proven beyond a reasonable doubt that AH was absolutely involved in this ...

We already know for sure that he was involved. We just don't know if that involvement goes all the way to murder.

So what?

What gives you the right to say all these disgusting things about this guy who we all have cheered for and rooted for??

A bunch of people have said that, if he turns out to be guilty of a felony crime in connection with a murder, they don't want him on the team. IF being the operative word. A bunch of people have also said that, given everything that's emerged, things aren't looking great for him right now. I'm still hoping against hope that he's innocent, but admittedly that's looking less likely by the day.

Which of those things is disgusting to say?

Here's fun fact for you WE DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT, nobody does.

Which is why about 95% of the posters on here are prefacing everything that they say with "let's wait for all the facts to come out before reaching any definitive conclusions".

What happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty?? Don't we still practice that in this country.....i thought so.

That's in the court of law, and is barely relevant to public opinion. Reminds me of those people who flip out and cry that their First Amendment rights are being violated because people boycott their products due to their ****ty opinions.

If/when charges are brought against Hernandez and he's tried in court, the jury will be instructed that he's innocent until proven guilty. I won't be on that jury, so it simply doesn't apply to me or, most likely, anyone else on this board.

Hernandez is not just a TE for the New England Patriots, he is a 23 year old dude with a young daughter and he's human just like me or you regardless of the amount of money in his bank account.

Yes, and I wish him all the best and hope that, if he's innocent, he'll be able to put this all behind him and move on with his life. But if he's guilty, none of what you said will or should prevent him from facing justice.

Ok, now you've gone completely off the deep end. Give one example of a poster on this site (who isn't one of the standard raving lunatics that I probably already have on ignore) who has said that Hernandez is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Almost everyone has said exactly what you said when you started that increasingly incoherent rant: that the situation looks pretty grim.

Personally, I am not seeing one isolated incident. Rather, I am seeing a string of events and behavior patterns that map back to situations that led to him dropping in the draft. Interestingly, we're reading about them all at once...threatening words to Welker; shooting in the face (of a convicted drug dealer), and the rest. Consider that the team does not just look at a single incident; whether he gets convicted of murder. Rather, they are looking at their position; the whole franchise. How does this character disturb what the Pats are building? Some members have already stated openly that AH has become more brazen, since receiving his big contract. Who woulda thunk it?

I'm no longer having visions of AH and Gronk playing every game and creating a Super Bowl Championship. Rather, I'm wondering how Ballard is feeling and what opportunities this scenario opens up for people of good standing character who are focused on football.

And, I don't mind saying, Gronk ought to take a page out of this book and reflect on how his childish behaviors reflect on the team and the organization. Most of these guys only play 5 years or so. they need to be dedicated and take advantage of what they have in front of them. However, the gangs, shootings and the rest...not what the Patriots are all about. That needs to be removed ASAP. Surely, Mr. Kraft feels dupes, after stating how AH was an upstanding young man? Don't we all...

Wow... so many people want to keep this douchebag around.... amazing

Who here has said otherwise?

You do realize that in your straw person arguement that innocent until proven guilty applies to the US legal system, not free public opinion, right?

I don't fault those who believe him blameless for wanting to keep him. It's those who think he's complicit in some way, gets probation or jail and still wish to keep him that confound me.

It really depends on what his involvement was, which we still don't know. If he was directly involved with murdering the guy, then yeah, he's gotta go. But that's by no means a sure thing yet, although it's appearing more and more likely.

Whether he was the one who pulled the trigger or not, is a moot point at this stage of the saga. The bottom line is the guy hangs around drug dealers, murderers, and other thugs, and appears to be covering his/their tracks by destroying evidence. He himself appears to be nothing more than a gangster…. And I’m sorry, but when I watch a Pats game on a Sunday afternoon, I don’t want my 5 yr. old twin boys look up to a criminal as their role model.

Um, I hope they look up to you as their role model and not some one dimensional sports athlete on television.

Just disagree in that I think the Pats WILL MOST DEFINITELY cut him

It's not definite by any means but if he is convicted of Obstructing Justice in a murder case the ghost of Myra Kraft is going to swoop in and cut his ass as fast as possible.

The NFL is comprised mostly of guys who your kids shouldn't be looking up to. Hernandez is probably no exception to that rule.

When you come from a bad area, sometimes your lifelong best friends end up making really bad choices in life. And despite how you seem to think it should be, cutting them loose just isn't that easy. Sometimes failure to do so burns you in a big way. It is what it is.

We still don't know for sure what the motive was behind destroying the surveillance footage. I agree that it's probably bad news, but we'll probably know for sure soon enough.

I'll cut him and resign him for cheap when he is eligible to return. Dude is talented. This all depends on how involved he was. If he knew Lloyd was going to be killed then I won't bring him back

Not to tell anyone how to raise their kids, but you probably shouldn't have them having sports figures as their role models.
