I understand some of you have a huge problem with NEM, and that there are times when we all bring things on ourselves. I really do get that. But the crap that was pulled here recently, while it may have been exacerbated by NEM himself, was unfair to him - and disingenuous of several posters on this forum.

Ian has done what he feels he has to do, and I can respect that. But I do feel he is working - through no fault of his own - with an unbalanced and limited view of what ACTUALLY transpired. However strange it may seem, this forum means the world to NEM. I, for one, can put up with occasional hysterics or controversy. Those of you have lied to Ian about what exactly was going on with NEM should be ashamed of yourselves.

For the record, NEM did not try to log on under a different name. NEM stuck to the rule that Ian set - he stayed exclusively in the political forum. His next-door-neighbor logged in from his computer, set up his own account and was looking/posting in the Patsfans Forum. This is a friend of NEM's I have been hearing about for YEARS now. This is a person I e-mailed with a few years back when he, too, was ill. It is certainly understandable that Ian would suspect that it was NEM, given the same IP address, but it was in fact a misunderstanding.

What's being done to NEM can be attributed to a lot of people, not the least of whom is NEM himself. But I can't get over how many people have taken this to such a ridiculous extreme. This is a good man in tough circumstances, who deserves far better than he's gotten. Should he keep his temper in better check? Sure. Will he? I have no doubt. Is it that big a deal to give him another chance - even though he has had chances in the past? I honestly don't think it is.

People can't handle a guy getting riled up and giving back as good as he gets? Why? I think, with everything the guy's dealing with, that some sort of double secret-probation is warranted. If Ian feels he simply CAN'T, I think that's obviously his call - all of us, NEM included I expect, respect and appreciate all that Ian does here. But I just think sometimes you have to cut a guy another break - even if it's not something you feel you "should" do, it is on some level the RIGHT thing to do.

I hope you all will read this with the respect I intend. I'm not looking for yet MORE flaming - kicking NEM while he's down is really unnecessary - and at this point for some of you it would be redundant. I hope you'll at least have some semblance of a heart.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks. NEM means so well, and this place means so much to him - especially now that he's dealing with so many HUGELY devastating life things. Please, let's just have a heart and, for this one time, give the guy a little happiness. I would be willing to vouch for him and promise to leave if he gets out of control.

I think that it is disingenuous to state that you are privy to the scope of Ian's investigation as to the facts that precipitated the action. I respect his decision.

The fact that several of you are taunting him on other sites, and taking over threads to celebrate his misfortune and ratchet up his anguish is, by the way, unconscionably cruel. I implore you to stop. At LEAST that.

I'd agree with you, cubedoggy, except I HAVEN'T done that or insinuated that. Ian knows far more than I the scope of his investigation. I said "But I do feel he is working - through no fault of his own - with an unbalanced and limited view of what ACTUALLY transpired."

That is not "stating" that I am privy to anything. This is a delicate subject. I think it would help to keep things calm and rational if we didn't misrepresent what is being said - by me or anyone else. Thanks.

Admittingly, I have no idea of what is going on or going on with NEM... I was gone for 2 weeks on "business", but I did enjoy talking with NEM on here... I wish him well, and hope to have more discussions with him in the future...

Ive stayed out of these "debates" all the time. But i dont care what you say this statement is total crap.

No one just walks in uses there "neighbors" computer to set up an online account with a Patriots board no less, posting under a name that the banned poster hates and only during the time they weren't allowed to visit the main board.

That paragraph is literally unbelievable .

Why do you feel this way?

You imply that he is lacking facts that might change the outcome. I have no dog in this hunt; I'm just wondering what it is you're not saying.

NEM is banned???

You're not new to this forum so I'm curious as to what you expect out of this post? The immature clowns who poked at NEM for weeks after his pointless apology aren't going to acknowledge their immaturity. Not after their behaviour was rewarded with the outcome they wanted. While it's sad that there are people like them in this world - there's nothing that you or I can do to change that fact. It's too bad that NEM never recognised this and it ultimately led to his expulsion.

You say you respect what Ian did, but you start a 3rd thread of the day when one other 1 has been shut down and locked. Why couldn't you put your opinion in the "tribute to Ian thread?" Multiple threads have been moved, locked or deleted within a few weeks time, but yet you start this thread claiming injustice? Please explain to us how in the world that you are respecting what Ian did. You show no respect at all, but go start a thread based upon your personal opinion agaisnt Ian. I would hate to see the people you do show respect for.

This must be sarcasm.

No, it's not... Like I said, I've been gone for the past 2 weeks, so I missed whatever happened... I'm still new, but I enjoyed whatever discussions and wisdom he had... I don't recall ever seeing a nasty or sarcastic post, but then again, 2 weeks is quite a bit of time, and things happen...

Sorry if I jumped on your before, doggy. My point - and perhaps I should've been more clear about it - is that I believed that Ian was under the assumption that NEM was lying about his neighbor, and I do know for a fact that NEM has been unable to contact Ian to explain what happened. It's possible, I suppose, that Ian did receive this information and doesn't believe it or doesn't think it matters, and is sticking with his decision. If so, then that's obviously his prerogative.

Old people in retirement communities do. And that's a guy I have corresponded with in the past, IM-ing FROM NEM's AOLIM address - so while I understand it sounds ridiculous to you, it's not at all surprising to me.

It (banning NEM) has happened before...just not to the extent of permanence.

Yes he was temp banned from the main forum and asked not to visit the main forum or create another account to visit the main forum.

Ian warned him.

He didnt lisetn and made an account name of Daniel McJosh and Ian banned him for it.

End of story.

Its too bad really.

You make a fair point. I don't know what I expect. Appealing to people's better angels doesn't often work, especially with people who were being immature and disingenuous jerks to begin with. I guess I just wanted to try and appeal to people, anyway. To maybe give a fresh perspective. I figured it couldn't hurt to at least try to plead the guy's case. I think he deserves it. And I know some of the stuff he's dealing with, family wise, right now, and I feel really badly for him.

I am glad you make Ian out to be a total idiot as if he couldnt think on his own and others made the decision. Could you please get off your hobby horse and actually read why NEM was banned? Maybe then you could can some respect for the guy who operates the board instead of indirectly bashing him. Oh ya, one more thing. I love how you make it so nobody is responsible for their own actions. People are only victims.
